I've reconnected this before and don't remember it being such a p.i.t.a. hind sight is 20/20, I know, because it would have been easier to do when the throttle body was off. Can someone give me some advice to make this easier.

Remove the TB and start over.
I've done it with the throttle body installed, but in the time it took me....I could have removed the TB and put it back on that way.
It's just so hard to hold the linkage back and get the cable end inserted in the slot/hole. I used a pair of curved needle nose pliers and spent probably 20 minutes trying and cussing, trying and cussing.
Just remove the TB, you will thank yourself for it.
