I installed a new tranny pan yesterday on my 94 and filled it up today. After filling and driving around I noticed some oil on the bottom of the skid plate. After some investigation I found that the filler tube doesn't snug up against the dip stick tube. I loosed the bolt that holds the dip stick tube in place to get to move into place but it would not move. The only time it leaks is when I put ATF down the tube not when I am driving around. I am a little worried about junk or even water finding its way down into the tranny pan.

Anyone experience this or have a solution?

Thanks

The dipstick tube seals with an o-ring. Is it still there?

I believe the o-ring is still there, I think I can see it... Do the two tubes need to be pressed together?

I just looked at my brother's 93 and he has the same gap between the pan tube and the dip stick tube. IIRC before the pan swap there was no gap. But now I am not sure if that was the case. Either way it shouldn't leak fluid at the gap, right?

If you can see the o-ring the upper tube is not fully seated in the lower tube and that is probably your leak.

I agree it looks like it is not fully seated but I can't raise the tranny pan any higher... Do I need to adjust the dip stick tube?

On a side note, why doesn't the FSM mention an o-ring?

Thanks

I don't have your year, so your pic's are confusing me a bit (which way is up in those?), but I think the o-ring would be in the upper left of your pic, inside that outer tube.

Those pics look ok to me as long as there is an o-ring in side there. My joint at those tubes looks the same.

thanks for the input!

I think I may have just found the o-ring! I was out blowing of my carport and noticed a little o-ring about the right size. I never saw it when I took the pan off but this was right where I was working.

I haven't really investigated yet but I think it will be easier to remove the dip stick tube than to remove the pan again. Anyone ever removed this tube? Anything I should know about?

thanks

Good catch!

Get a new one. Yours is probably scuffed up by now, and even if not, it's probably stretched from age, hence why it fell off.
