Ok i i dont have a pic of my trans. i forgot to take the dam thing before i left my buddys house a hour away from mine. Been a very frustrateing day. My truck is a 86. its got a junkyard motor. but im unshore of the the year the 22re is. motor swap was done befor i got it.

I got the old clutch and flywheel off the 5 speed trans i got used. Wasnt shore of year on the truck either.

My buddy whos a mechanic. orderd me a fly wheel and clutch kit. The new stuff. the pilot bearing the inner hole had like a 1/8th inch gap around the pilot shaft of my transmission. and the clutch spline hole. was smaller then my new trans has. Im guessing the new clutch kit i bought has less spline count. If i count the splines on my old clutch can one u guys tell me what model trans i have without a pic?

Ps Im swaping my autotrans to the 5 speed. so i cant go off anything my truck had originaly considering it already has a junkyard motor in it. I got my clutch pedal asembly bolted in holes drilled, slave cyl installed. everything is ready for me to install the trans just need to figure out wich trans i have so my buddy can trade my parts back to the auto part wharehouse his garage orders from .

o yeah there not my pics jacked them off the interweb rofl
also im guessing that mines a model a or b considering the transfercase shifter is on the transfercase. do u no wich one had the bigger spline count where the clutch disc slides on.

the clutch i took off the truck i took the trans out of has 21 splines

THe clutch that came off the trans i bought has 21 splines.

I think marlin crawler site had some info on the different transmissions. Do a little research and then order your parts
From there.

cant find any info on spline counts and pilot bushing size.

No clue... but you haven't given us much to go by. There are 5 different variants of the W56 tranny. Pics or a detailed description of the transmission including, but not limited to: length and spline count of input shaft, length and diameter of shaft nose that goes into pilot bearing, shifter locations (top, forward etc..) might help ...
Seems to me all 22-re's had the same pilot bearing from 81-88. I would imagine a w56 bell housing is a w56 bell housing, so as long as spline counts match and you are in the right year range it should bolt up.
Where is your mechanic during all of this? Isn't that what you pay him for: to make it work? Only kidding (partly).

In the meantime read this: http://www.marlincrawler.com/tech/transmission/transmission-gear-ratio-chart
...and search their clutches and bearings

what i didnt mention in my first post was the trans mission. from the front edge of bellhouseing. to rear output flange is 38 and a half inchs long.
in my 5th post i mentioned the clutch that came out the junk truck with the 5 speed was 21 spline. and 8 and 7/8ths clutch disc My mechanic is a friend. U no one them friends whos a mechanic. u hang out wheel together. get drunk together. help ur buddy move to pa to the new house with the new garage. and that mechanic friend who let me be the first truck worked on in it. and for freee ;)

Hes also a maryland state vehicle inspector

everything seems to be pointing to the parts p[lace sent wrong stuff. atleast thats the fealing i got. uestion does the crank shaft where the flywheel bolts on does the 22re have a spacer that goes between the flywheel and crank for the manuals?

Don't make it any harder than it is.
The bottom
Picture you show is a forward shift transfercase. The top picture shows a top shift transfercase.

I hope you find the right parts. ....

trans turned out to be a big pile of junk bearings are shot in it sounds like a rocky margarita being made when driveing. 1st 2nd 3rd and 5th roaring grinding nasty nasty noises im so dissapointed. but good thing trucks a 5 speed now lol dude sold me it said he sell me a forward shift for a 100 bucks being the topshift is bad. not shore what to do thinking of going outside with the 50 cal blackpowder and haveing target practice.

Sorry to hear that. Same guy wants to sell you another trans? I'd want a money back guarantee that this next one isn't a POS.

I called the guy and told him i new he didnt give me a warnty and it been about two months since i bought the trans. i didnt get around to installing it till the past two weekends. I asked him if there was anything he would do he said 100 bucks for another trans and tcase. driveshafts crossmember. Hes just a guy who buys trucks off the local towtrucks and local people up in pa. and then he strips sells the parts. not like it was a junkyard. Just dont no what to do. Dont figure ima find another trany tcase driveshaft setup for 100 bucks anytime soon. im sorta stuck between a rock and hard place. with a bunch of extra parts.

Right now i got a bad auto trans with tcase. set driveshafts crossmember
I got the bad w56 top shift with good tcase driveshafts crossmember and stuff
i also got a running driveing with bad trans truck out front thats useless right now.

Getting to the point im thinking of just selling the dam thing. jeep parts are alot easyer to find and cheaper. Sorta the reason i got rid my fj62 even tho i miss that truck so much.

It really is a straight forward swap, as you now know. I think you just need to get a good transmission. You got a bad transmission, it happens. Spend the money and get one you can trust, perhaps one with a warranty. I think the guy that sold you the junk one should trade the POS on back for the other one, otherwise you risk giving this guy $575 for two pieces that don't work and he still made $575 and you don't have sh*t.

i probly sound stupid. but hes a older gentleman. and doesnt realy seem to be the type of guy who wants to burn sombody. i agree he should just trade me beings i bought junk the first time. anyone got a good 5 speed they wana give or trade a brother lol. i givem my two old ones. lol i already did all the hard work. my trucks now a 5 speed. if the bearings wernt shot it would be perfect. drove shifted ran great. just noisy as a some beach

o yeah forgot to mention. he has bunch of solid axles and other yota parts for sale. sorta his hobby. its freaking xmass he should have said just come get this other one ur right. but im screwed right now and moneys tight arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh i need a secret santa.
