my yakima 4 bike hauler came with a bolt, with a nut captured on the inside of the tube. It doesnt wander much at all.

We prolly got the same thingy there.

I dunno man. I was digging the new accessory till eagle eyes found it. ;)

Great looking setup steve. For those visual folks ....

Im surprised you didnt take the pic with the Tight Butts Drive Me Nuts receiver plug in it, or with Eric breaking it in.....

Um. Think that had been trumped by your ...um... "dump Valve"

Still dont know how you caught that one cowboy ! Well done. Now you understand why i was loading your stuff up for you? ;)

lol..... seemed rather innocent compared to the Rymer conversation I overheard

yeah, his big ole mitt prints were all over the side this morning when i walked outside.

Are you making this basket so that it attaches to that receiver adapter or right to the hitch?

Make sure your adapter slides as far into the hitch as it can. Don't want it ending right at or after the pin hole.

Its not a basket per se. Its going to be a bar that runs parallel to the rear of the camper, perpendicular to the 2 inch box that has the dual receiver adapter. That bar would have wings or a small tray on the drivers side to hold the gen and possibly 2.5gal gas can, and allow the spare tire to mount on the passenger side..either using the bolt on mount, or weld it in place.

The desire is to have it as close to the end of the 2 inch dual(using the bottom tube, which would "normally" be the tube that would a trailer would attach to), and snug it up as close to the rear of the trailer as possible. Ive already drilled a hole in the dual adapter to move it as inbound as possible.

Right, so a basket :flipoff2:

Keep in mind, whatever design direction you go with, that if this thing fails/breaks on the highway, you'll have a lot more to worry about than just losing your stuff.

Totally understand, which is why I brought my junk for Jason to fondle and come up with ideas

Baskets have lips, edges, walls whatever ;)

What's the plan for attaching the generator? Bungie straps or something a little more permanent?

Is it going to stay on the bumper when you run it, or is it going to be 50 feet away behind some bushes.

the plan was some strap steel bent into a clamshell, either with a hasp and hinge welded to the steel frame or bolted to the aluminum. a ratchet strap to secure, then the strap steel fed through the hand hole, with a bolt/wingnut, and padlock. Then covered with a cover to prevent water intrusion.
