Hey Bailey...

PM me when you get the cylinder....I have a little test I want you to do. ;)

Thanks!

I highly recommend PSC motorsports. They are the best in steering as far as I am concerned. They have excellent service and turnaround. They made me a 12" stroke cylinder for my 80 and built a pump sized to the system. Kelvin is the person I deal with.

Kirk
Are you doing full hydro, or assist?

how does a 6 " stroke ram work on a 40 axle ? all the ones we measured were 7 or better and that is with just about every arm made.

I'll tell you when I get the ram...

My understanding is that toyota axles (until '91) are all about 6" stroke...

Will do Steve...

I run a 6" stroke ram with my 40 (using a 60 series axle) It's actually a wee it long.

it depends on the length of your steering arms to determine the stoke.

a buddy bought the TG setup, and the thing i don't like is the weld on bracket to the tie rod arm and the distance that the welded on piece causes side angle forces on the arm. The force of the ram off center of the axis could (and would) bend it. As far as i know it's a better idea to keep the ram as close (and as parallel) as possible to the tie rod arm. the TG instruction manual tells you to alternately twist the tie rods to prevent the arm from rotating. That sounds rather bush league to me.

Common practice, not just for a ram install....

never mind, Apparently I cant see anything....

Heres a good link to look at for placement

I have been running the kit from West Texas Off Road and have 0 complaints. I have one of Matts original rams and had a problem with a leak once and he fixed it for no charge. I have also been on trail runs where he would swap people on the spot if they broke a ram. He is one of those guys that will bend over to make sure your happy.

Trailgear, I won't get into the whole BS that they go themselves into, but I have dealt with Geiger before when he worked for All Pro and again when he was at Marlin and for that reason right there, I will not order from him. I have always received piss poor service from him.

I put a lot of stock in customer service and would rather pay extra for it. On every mod that I have gone for a cheaper version, I have always payed for in the end.
Just my $.02 ;)

any update on your ram, i just bought one from trail gear and got it but now afetr reading some things on this thread it sounds like i may need an 8 incher?

will see waiting for my 6 stud arms from luke to get here so i can measure

I sent you a message back Cam, but I'll go ahead and post it here.

Turns out since I am running stock arms still I need at least a 7" stroke ram. Trail Gear couldn't swap rams with me so I had to return the kit.

I'm going to be getting a kit from either west texas or Rocklogic. Whoever can get me a 7" ram.

Just an FYI you can internally limit any ram to any lesser stroke. Not a bad idea, as you really don't want the ram to be able to push against the steering stops.

got you pm,

i ordered the tg ram kit as well, looks decent. waiting on my 6sud arms to put it all together
