@blarsen Good job on the trail repair. Your jack setting on the control arm is almost as scary as the hill. You need a Jack Adapter for your own safetyfor doing trail repairs in the future.

No the picture doesn't make it look worse, it is that bad. This hill is just after you go down the chute. The trail goes up a hill that you have to hug the right side and then levels out, the other line goes up the right side of this ledge (over about 100 yards).

I like that this trail continues to "boggle" folks.....

And test people. A testament to the folks who left Escalante over 100 years ago.

Those folks who picked and blasted their way through this 100yrs ago were some tough Hombres.... It still trashes us with A/C and RTT's.

Great trail repair. This is a good example that clearly warns others that the 80 was never designed to tackle trails like this. Breakage is imminent. And if nothing breaks, the driveline has been permanently stressed to the limits of its design tolerance. Future reliability of the stressed parts can no longer be trusted.

Here's a 26 second clip of the actual steepness of that incline where @blarsen had the driveline failure. It also shows him sliding backward right at the end.

Did that trail about 18 months ago. Pretty sure we did not do that climb. Must be related to the reroute that you mentioned. Sounds like a good reason to go check it out again. Looks fun.

@blarsen, thanks for posting, it's always fun to read about a trip out west. What drove the decision to retrofit the superseded brass spindle bushing in place of the newer style needle bearings?

After replacing one of each 5 years ago, it was the bearing that failed rather than the solid bushing. decided thats the way to go.

We had two guys with us this past week that took video of just about everything of interest on both HITR and Rincon spur. If i cant figure it out I will just need to go back
