I've been told that stock 80series wheels don't fit a 60. And I know that older 40 series wheels don't fit a 60...

Anyone have a list of toyota wheels that *do* fit a 60? I'm looking to upgrade to 16" wheels, but would really like to use OEM wheels- also they are more likely to be waiting for me at a junkyard somewhere.... :)

I was thinking maybe from a 75 or a 70? Perhaps some other vehicle... like a dyna truck or something?

Thanks!

3.5 " back space are the key word

ummm, "older 40 series" don't fit?
why?
they are intechangable between 40,55,60,70...
curious.

From the 60 series forum:

My 16x6" OEM silver wheels came off of an HJ61, so I know they will fit your HJ60 for sure. The Toyota part number is also in one of those posts (by Greg B.).

disk brake calipers. I think that is what's up anyway. All I know is that a set of wheels that work just fine on my 4drum '73 fj40 won't work on just the front (disk brake) of my '84 fj60.

If I'm wrong... please correct me! The wheels in question aren't stock. But they fit the 40 fine and not the 60.

the calipers are bigger then the drums on the fronts, but using the stock steel wheels, you can fit them on anything excluding the more recent 5 stud 78,79 and 100, 105 series machines. The stockies are: 16x5.5 for all base models and 16x8 for the GXL spec 75 and 80 i think. Chromed split rims in 16x5.5 were fitted to high spec hilux models and jap. ( ;) ) imports.

cheers

76 and up will fit and the older stock rims will fit also but not if they have the hub cap clips, the rivits hit the caliper...

Uhh, my early 15" drum brake rims don't have hubcap clips and they dont fit disk brake axles. They don't even fit over the big 45 drum brakes. That said rims after '76 should fit no problem, but they're only 5.5" wide until the 80's. Don't know about the newer stuff tho.

now THAT is weird, i have run non-hub cap rims from the early cruisers on all sorts of 40s,60s, 70s...

Maybe its just the 60's fj40 rims. Dunno. The centers are smaller, like ~12" vs ~13" on the newer rims that fit. I think you are correct that it was the rivets causing the interference. On the disk axle you could mount the wheels but only turn them maybe 30 deg before it hit. I use them as a storage theft deterent on the front ;)

re: '76 and newer wheels

i wouldn't count on '76 and up cruiser wheels fitting... in costa rica. there are weird things down there: drum brake HJ60's, etc etc. So... best thing to do, is take your truck with you... and test fit the front.

on the other hand, seeing as they also have solid axle 105's, and hiLux... they might have facotry 16" wheels with the correct backspacing to clear your calipers.

i wonder... are the solid axle hilux disk brake fronts?

I've only looked at some of the solid axle hilux rigs and they've all had disc fronts.

I may make it out to the junkyard this week to poke around.... in hopes of finding some 16" wheels and a few other things. We'll see.
