anyone know anything about the Toyota Stout? Any shared bloodlines with a cruiser? I don't remember seeing one ever before this year when I saw one restored in Japan. They are kind of cool and size wise kind of a large compact or mid sized truck (like the older Dodge Dakota). There is a 66 here in town in original condition for sale.

They are the precurser to the minitruck. They have a 3RB engine, 4.88 gears and 4 on the tree.......Pretty cool actually, the main drawback to them is that there is next-to-nothing still available for them.

the one in town claims to have an original 5 speed. is that possible? never heard of 5 on the tree.

yep, neat trucks, the one thing they have going for them is under the seat :)

and NO the bed is not the same as a 45LPB

didn't know they had 4.88's..........says 4.875 in my lit ;)

got a broucure sitting right on my desk for one actaully,

there are 4+ in town, 2 are drivers. other one is a buddies, dad bought new in 66, has 60k on it :)

we were actaully able to source some parts for it thru a Toyota parts manager in CA that happens to be a Stout nut. got brakes, carb kit, tune up stuff ect ect.

taillights will swap with a 45LPB but are red/red, 45 is red/amber..........and heck ya can't get either of them anymore anyway.

not worth alot IMOP, but a neat truck and they hood reminds me of a Studabaker.

I do think the door openers and handles are the same as a fj45LV :) bet they lock the same way........which is just the oddest thing I have seen.

aren't the tail lights the same as the Fj45?

i saw in my local paper that there is one of these for sale for a reasonable/cheap price and it's in pretty good shape judging by the pic. should i think about picking it up? are they actually worth something if they're in good condition?

This is a 69 hilux either french or swiss. Note the lifejacket

Why is the Hilux driver the one wearing the life jacket and the guy and the girl nearer to the water aren't?

Note the turn signals on the hood are the same as in the pre75 cruiser (I tried to get one of these off an old Hilux in the wrecking yard but only managed to snap off the bolt :( ). Also note the rear round reflectors are the same as in the cruiser.

I think the oil filler cap up above is about the coolest one I've ever seen from a factory. Also note the air cleaner looks like one of their desert models and I bet it's got a dust cup a' la Cruisers.
