Since you don’t explicitly express this in your listing…

H55f?
Transfer case included? Split?
Long spline?
Who did the rebuild?

What exactly makes this “stronger and quieter”?
What advantages are there to this transmission versus buying a brand new H55f from Toyota for around $2,500 and sourcing/rebuilding a t case?

GLWS,
Ian

Hello Ian. Thanks for the question. Its a direct replacement for 8/80-10/82 FJ40 known as a compound low or H42. H41 vs H42 - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/h41-vs-h42.1175996/. The rebuild was done by a highly experienced technician that has done hundreds of Toyota transmission and transfer rebuilds.

Thank you
Quite obvious that you aren't familiar with this group, you should delete this ad, and the other you posted, and spend an hour or so researching this forum, and the market value of the item......and since this group knows most all respected "Cruiser" mechanics, not posting a trusted guy, sends up red flags.

FWIW, I bought a 1979 FJ40 about 25 years ago that supposedly had the transmission and transfer case rebuilt by a well known restoration shop here in SoCal. When I opened it up, it was obvious that it had not…and could not have been rebuilt. It was a OE replacement case that utilizes an FJ60 idler and a set of custom gears that cannot be purchased individually.

Obviously this is not your situation. My point is that, regardless of how much you may have invested in the units, people who are looking for a rebuilt unit are going to do their homework on what other units sell for…ON THIS FORUM…as well as the teardown photos which may or may not accompany them.

The seller may ask what ever he wishes for an item.

That said, with no parking brake provision straight replacement in a 7/80 or earlier truck is a trick. It is a short H42- a common transmission and can fit 8/80-1984 FJ40's and FJ60's (with alt top plate).

Seller, you should also look at cruiser outfitters complete H55/tcase combos to price compare. You might need to adjust.

is this an H41 or H42? Was the unit and work done in South America or North America

Fair enough. I never said they shouldn't this transmission is priced for the work that has been done and the parts that are installed.

I checked this out after the basic options it's at $6000 roughly plus freight. Also they are two different units. Collectors may want a direct swap of their original unit.

You know man I'm gonna take you up on that toyoda. Im not here to bicker with a bunch some kind of guys....I'm trying to sell an item. Seems like this is for cobblers tinkerers and nit pickers on here. Thanks for the best advice I got on here

The market always dictates price. Good luck.

@seanga
You came in today with your first post being an item for sale that most of us “tinkerers” would recognize as vastly overpriced and under described.

I tried to help you with that but I guess I beat around the bush too much. What you have for sale, while it may be nice, is nothing special and certainly does not warrant the price tag you’ve placed on it. Granted, you can charge whatever you want for something, but as my man CD said above, “the market always dictates price”. $OR is not the market. The best indication of the “Land Cruiser parts market” is probably within these halls, where you have spent the day making friends.

This forum is filled with smart, kind and helpful folks who genuinely look out for one another. Spending a bit of time looking around would’ve clued you in to that.

Seems like this is for cobblers
