I hope everyone had a good Memorial Day Weekend. No BBQs for us, or road trips for us. Three full days of assembly for us. A bunch of parts finally came in so we can start putting some polished, painted or refurbished parts on the fresh paint.
While my wife was working on a different project (We will see it below) I decided to tackle the front emblem. I think it's not surprising that we're spending a pretty penny on the finishing of this Land Cruiser, but like anybody I enjoy saving a little money. The front Toyota emblem is a bit of an enigma. You could go buy a new one for over 100 dollars which will just get stone chipped and messed up. I decided to give ours a refresher. I think it turned out alright. First thing I did was sand the letters flat and then painted the whole emblem white and started masking off the letters.
Finished off the letters
Put a good couple coats of trim black over it all and then pealed off the masking
It turned out pretty good. Maybe a little brush work to make it real nice, but from 3 feet it looks pretty solid.
The reproduction grill needed a little work to fit, but it's a quality piece none the less. New turn signal lenses and gaskets. Was great to see the front of the truck come together.
