From everything I have read, the LC cannot be flat-towed so I have to trailer it. Anyone else towed their LC without a trailer? Can you disconnect the rear drive shaft and tow it using a dolly?
I am looking to take my LC with me on a Colorado trip in May with my truck and truck camper. I have a truck camper that extends beyond the bed of the truck and I have to use a 41" extension to tow with the camper loaded in the bed. My Class V hitch is rated for WC at 12,000 lbs and 1,200 lbs TW and 14,000 lbs WD with 7,000 lbs TW with WD. I'm feeling like I am pushing the max on the hitch with that extension since using and extension cuts the TW in half to 600 lbs.
My truck with the camper loaded weighs in at 10,000 lbs which is, coincidentally, my max GVWR. My GCWR is 18,500 lbs. With the LC weighing in at 5,425 lbs and a trailer weight of say 2,000 lbs, that puts me at a total weight of truck, camper, trailer and LC at 17,425 lbs which is well under my GCWR.
Having said all of that, I am still concerned about the tongue weight and tearing the hitch off the truck although my hitch is very heavy duty. My truck is a dually so I have plenty of capacity on the tires for the camper and the tongue weight.
Any suggestions other than don't do it?
