On occasion, I get random PMs from random people asking random questions, asking for help, or suggestions, with what to do on their builds. Most of the time, people are nice, and I'm able to help them with whatever they need. Sometimes, the question isn't clear so I'll direct them somewhere else, or say I can't help. This guy took that to mean I'm an a$$hole, aka "Sir Dickhead". What the fahck is wrong with people.

Read this exchange, tell me what you think:

"Hi,
I ws wondering if I could pick your brain? I have an 1989 FJ 62 and the steering box is in need of a rebuild I can't stand the lack turning force or the number of turns lock to lock. So instead of throwing money away on the rebuild I would like to upgrade. I have the ability to do pretty much any mod necessary through my family's shop but it seems like a simple matter to install an FJ 80 box with or without the 105 shaft mod.
In your experience will the 80 box provide more force and less turns lock to lock?
I am running an LS drive train from a 2005 Yukon swap so the pump is from that engine.
Thanks in advance,
<the guy who PM'd me>"

"Hey <the guy who PM'd me>,

The 80 series box will absolutely provide more force. I noticed less steering effort with the 80 box than I did with the 60 box. I'm not sure on turns to lock, never bothered to check.

- Johnny C"

"Johnny,
Thanks for the quick response. Do you have driving experience with an FJ 60/62 and if so could you compare the steering between the 60 and 80 series?
<the guy who PM'd me>"

At this point, I'm thinking how the heck did this guy find me if he didn't know that I had "driving experience" with a 60/62. Didn't he ask me to compare in the beginning, and isn't that what I gave him with my first reply?

"What? I have no idea what you mean.

No, no experience driving a 60/62. I haven't owned two, haven't put over 100k miles on my 60 myself, haven't ever turned a wrench on it, etc.

- Johnny C"

"I meant can you compare the turning ease and number of turns between the two boxes."

"I already gave you that info. Let me quote my earlier post:

"The 80 series box will absolutely provide more force. I noticed less steering effort with the 80 box than I did with the 60 box. I'm not sure on turns to lock, never bothered to check."

Good luck with your endeavour. Doesn't seem like I'm going to be able to help you.

- Johnny C"

"I will agree that you will be of no further help as you are an a******. Good day to you Sir Dickhead."

"Glad I could help! Love you too <guy who PM'd me>."

WTF :flush:

Time to update your sig block:

Johnny C - KK4HAN - TLCA# 17825 - ΦΚΤ - Fall 06 - "Sir Dickhead"

Just saw a piece on Anthony Bordane

In the piece they mention "his struggle with drug addiction"
Why is it that if you are rich and famous you "struggle with drug addiction and it is OK
If you are poor or middle class you are a druggie, junkie and a loser?

Think about this:

If you are no longer an addict, you have 'struggled' with it.

Vs if you are still using and being looked down upon, you are a druggie/junkie/loser.

I think the key is most of the poor have less resources to fight it to include family etc.

You hear about the rich who have to deal with sex addiction because they had a drug addiction started by an alcohol addiction. I can't afford an alcohol addiction to begin with, ya know? :)

Long story short, not everyone speaks sarcasm. Some people read it and automatically translate it to "a$$hole" a completely different language, but similar if you're not very intelligent.

Problem is sometimes it doesn't translate through type very well.

i've had similar experiences on mud/facebook/ls1.com etc......

i'm now always careful talking to people that I don't know very well on MUD for this reason. Those that know me know that i'm just a sarcastic a****** but really a good guy at heart.

Just like those that know Johnny know how big his heart really is.

Oh but Johnny you do really need to add that to your sig line that would be the tits.

LOL - You shouldn't really do this, but how funny would it be if that was a link to the guy's build thread or something - - now - don't go doing one of mine for suggesting this, just sayin.

Pretty much sums up a rant i've had a lot. There are still some sane people selling out there but the prices that high mileage toyotas are trying to be sold at these days

I am with you Al, I have been softly looking for a 62 or 60 for close to a year. All I need is a clean body and interior in at least fair shape. I will not be using the rest. I am in no hurry so I can afford to wait for the right truck. I've not seen anything with a blown motor or trans in a while either.

I am amazed by what folks think a 30 year old, rusted, leaky, tired old truck that needs EVERYTHING is worth. I fully believe they are worth big money once completely gone through, replacing all maintenance items etc. and put in good running order. They are few and far between.

what does the media gain by reporting that there MAY be fuel shortages? If everyone just went about their biz and got gas at random times of the day and week, and not line up to fill their car and 5 cans all at the same time, we'd be ok.

Unless they want to entice panic and then be able to report on said panic and empty gas stations (sarcasm...of course that's what they want)

i thought inciting a riot/panic was against the law?

"Screaming 'fire' in a crowded movie theater" has been one of the tests of free speech. It is a situation where you are guaranteed to have violence or death. Of course that saying goes back to a time when fires spread more quickly and so it is a bad example now with all of the fire precautions they have in theaters :)

I actually heard two guys shouting obscenities at the Apex Costco today. Cars where backed up out into the side street. This was 2 PM on a THU! I thought I would be sly and sneak in when no one else was prolly going there :)

I lead a sheltered life, I go to town a few times a week, 4 miles away. By the time I need gas again prices will be down again and lines will be gone. Heather, on the other hand, deals with it with her car and 3 vans at work every day.

Yahoo is bugging me. I keep seeing Dodge Ram adds, dually pulling a big load of round bails. I dont need a new truck, but I do need to start hauling hay in for winter only the damn barn roof is 2 weeks late so far.............

if I hear the term "dreamer' one more time I'm going to lose it

we all have dreams, not just peopole who entered this country illegally. The very idea that that the Feds (who we elected) use our tax dollars to reward criminals and pick winners and losers in our society is insanity.

My rant o' the day will be about the "Opioid Epidemic" that has spreading like the clap thru the media... If everyone is going to heroin, why not go after the heroin manufacturers, distributors, sellers, and get genuine help for the users? How about going after all of the illegal medication shipments coming in from china, the far east, and mexico? Submitting petitions to get prescription medication banned from the market because of the chance for addiction is only going to hurt the millions of individuals(and their families) that suffer from Chronic Pain issues. Just because the FDA was able to get Opana Extended Release removed from the market does NOT make the pain go away from the patients that had been prescribed it. The govt is making it increasingly difficult for long term patients with honest to God issues to get medication, threatening to take the licenses of Dr's they deem to be "overprescribing". A person who suffers from Chronic Pain would not wish their pain upon anyone, including a feeble minded politician who could easily circumvent any laws in place to get treatment for themselves or their families.

The other little addendum rant would be toward all media outlets. If you are so freakin concerned about misuse, overuse, or nonintended use of medications, then why dont you pull the plug on any and all prescription drug advertising that permeates your morning newscasts, your evening newscasts, and any other time slot they can worm their way into. Oh, you cant do that you say? Is it because those commercials provide consumers with great tools to assist with their healthcare? Or is it because of the billions of dollars in advertising revenue you would lose if you voluntarily stopped direct to consumer marketing? I think we know the answer to that question.

Sincerely,
The spouse of someone dealing with chronic pain, the stress and anxiety of not knowing if this will be her last month of medication.
