I have had my '69 FJ40 in a thousand pieces since last Spring. Had to put it away for the Winter and now I cannot remember what everything is and where it goes. Can onyone please tell me what this part is and where it came from?

didn't the 69 mirror mount to the side of the cowl?

Yes. That mounted on the cowl.

It may have mounted on the cowl, but will mount on the front of the windshield frame as well...mine is

The '69 mirrors mounted on the door. As Poser stated, that bracket is for mounting a mirror to the lower windshield hinge, not to the cowl.
