Are they even patrolled? Or is some of these areas already gated?
and with Trump coming in, will they even have money to do anying on our lands?
These same Control freaks shut down target practice in all of Tonto NF for 3 years. IN the name of Public safety(current buzz phraze to lock down land)
Since moving here, and living in close proximity to the TNF, I have never seen any enforcement happening excepty to fence and gate off pubilc lands.
Simply criminal (IMHO).
I do not know where Bulldog Canyon is, the Rolls, St.Clair, or Desert Vista is. I will look them up to see where these lands are.

Seems like only two areas are pinned on their map, St clair, Bulldog Canyon. Do these areas have gated off parking, entrance to areas?

Desert Vista is off of Bartlett dam road, and that series of trails has no real gate and is not fully fenced off. Only fenced off from Rio Verde foot hills.
Never seen any Enforcement in the 3 years living and exploring this area.
A couple of unlocked entrances allowing access to these areas. Both ends of Camp wash are open, and several access points are not fenced off on road to Needles parking lot(no parking of trailers are allowed any more here and several of the pull outs allong the road are marked the same No Trailers.

Currently the FS office off of Bartlett dam rd is shut down till they get water again, Operating out of Down Town Phoenix office.

Rolls, I could not find.

Sorry, I don’t know much about the OHV permits. I thought they were for dirt bikes and such. Our rigs are already fully registered.
Or is this just a Tonto NF thing? I rarely get up north. Mostly I just hang around Coronado NF places.
I do already carry my America The Beautiful all access pass and a State Trust Land pass. That’s always covered me for anywhere I’m interested in exploring around here.

These permits are simply a Tonto Natl forest permit and specific to these higher use areas near the metropolitan area. They are required for all vehicles accessing the specific areas outlined above.

Rolls is near Saguaro Lake and the coves.

Thanks, I was wondering.

Well off of Rio Verde foot hills in to Desert Vista. No locked gates to need a access a code. This is for 2 of the three current Entrances. The other gate is not posted with the Sign stating you need a day pass(or monthly, yearly). In talking to one of the head rangers when they first locked up the Access at the end of 168th(jan of 2024). He stated it would all be this way in 6 years time. They had a grant from the state to implement their plans. But it seems like their timeing has changed. The grant was for infrastructure(which has not appeared yet), but not enforcement. That had to come when they get enough money flowing from these forced dontaions.
Fires between Bartlett and Rio Verde foothills and flooding on The Rio Verde did take some toll. In being here 3 years now, never have I seen it that busy
where there are hundreds of Motorcycles and SXS. Just has not happen. Crazy they think they are generate enough money to pay a Ranger(0r two) to ride around and issue tickets. Maybe they just plan to wait at these unlocked gates to see if people buy these pass's. Then you show a code. Sort of Stupid goverment mentality to expect something wiht out a gate that is locked.

There are signs posted to purchase a Tonta Pass at 2 of the 3 gates. They also have posted at all three gate you must have the OHV sticker
on your Vehicle. So far, in the past running into a ranger with my truck(no off road machine) visting the Box Bar and Needles my Senior pass
was good enough to not pay the Tonto NF pass entrance fee. Self pay station off of of N Forest rd going to Needles parking lot.

TRAL has advocated that there are no locked gates, as they are a drain on resources and degrade the user experience. Works for fishing licenses...

Desert Vista is closest to you, St. Clair is north of the Bartlett Lake Road, Bulldog Canyon is between Saguaro Lake and Usery Pass, and The Rolls are east of SR87 (Beeline Highway) towards the Four Peaks

we'd be happy to show you the areas

and yes, we have the permit already

you do not need the OHV sticker for full-size trucks - but for ATVs and side-by-sides and motosickles
