Tom's Ownership Thread

Hello, my name is Tom. I will be documenting my land cruiser build with video. The truck is an original owner with 184,000 miles. My dad gave me the car a few months ago. I have not had a chance to post about it because I have been working primarily on my S2000 build. I am trying to make my videos better. Comments and suggestions are welcome.

I have already ordered a TJM 50mm kit. I will be using MAF drop brackets to correct the castor. I have replaced the brakes with hawk heavy duty pads and ATE super blue racing fluid. Also, the front knuckles have just been serviced. That's about it. Sorry to be brief I just don't have a ton of time between classes

I was home for a bit today and saw my suspension packages from Slee off-road sitting in my living room. I need to order some 285/75 16 tires now. I have a ton of car parts that I need to throw out or sell first though before I proceed with the land cruiser project.

You don't need the MAF brackets for 2" lift. Caster bushings will be fine.

I agree that I don't need the brackets. The offset bushings do not look like a good solution to me. There is no rule telling us we should run something because everyone else is doing it ;)

My 2" is great without correction. The arms are stock.

Thanks, that is good to know. I will check my caster after installing springs/shocks and see where I am at.

S2000... Miss that car

I haven't been posting anything. I did a few things to the land cruiser over break. I haven't had a lot of time between surgery, school issues and some home remodeling projects. Here is the TJM kit:

Great job so far, keep it up Tom and post lots of videos of progress. What is your next step, tires?

Thanks Mark. Right now I am just fixing little things. I put a new throttle cable in and a few other small things recently. I do need tires though!

I think for the next thing, I am going to replace the heater hoses. After that, I am going to do the transmission fluid. I also want to check the valves at some point soon.

As far as videos go, I want to make more videos on where I am taking the land cruiser instead of videos about fixing it. I would like to buy some good film equipment and go on a road trip around the US this summer. I think that would be very cool. I used to do a lot of film stuff in high school and dropped it when I started studying engineering.

Welcome! :flipoff2:
I like that color mine is sort of the same just darker. Are you factory locked?

Sent from my busted to s*** EVO4G

Tom, looking at your existing tires and they are not all that bad yet and as you have mentioned PM takes priority for sure. When I installed my lift I didn't get tires for about a year afterwards, figured the ones that I had on Michelin LTX M/S ware still good there was no reason to do so.... Yeah man taking a trip around the US sounds like a great idea especially in Land Cruiser. I took a week long trip around Lake Michigan last summer and had a blast. Had many cars and truck in the past but driving LC changes everything especially after it was lifted it felt really good on the road at any speed and surface. Well good luck with you project and hopefully your trip will come true this summer!. Keep on trucking Tom:steer: and keep us posted!
Mark.

Yeah these tires were just replaced, so bigger tires are more of a want than a need. That sounds fun! Thanks Mark!

Anyone know the best place to get a transmission pan quickly? The drain plug hole threads are stripped. It looks like someone used some sort of sealer on the bolt threads as a band aid fix. Now I am afraid to drive the car around until I replace the pan. Thanks!
