Just went through all of these pictures. What an incredible trip! Amazing pictures! I've been do DC and Boston but not Canada, wanting to go now!

Thanks brother, it's definitely a nice trip indeed.

To each his own

I love our aggressive 2017 LX

I can't stand the limited 4 runner

:)

I can definitively say that if the LX570 was in a Disney Cars movie, it would be a bad guy.

The Limited 4Runner would probably be a dumb guy who got killed by the LX.

And this is how she sits TODAY, had the hood wrapped and "LandCruiser" embossed underneath the wrap..... also had clear applied to the area behind the Gobi ladder (I can see the kids or me scratching the paint).

Tomas, since your Gobi rack convinced me to go that route I would also like you thoughts on lighting. What did you use, why and how is it working out? Are there any issues? How do the lights on the rear work with the wind overhang thing? How much did you use on the front? (I only will be using lights when driving forest roads at night. No gnarly off road at night. No highway stuff as that's illegal here.

Secondly, why the wrap on the hood? Is it only for looks or does it serve a functional purpose?

Often lighting on the roof rack can cause a glare on the hood which is a lot of people wrap it or paint in flat to reduce the glare/reflection. People have been doing it for decades especially old Discos.

I thought that might be the case. I haven't had any experience with glare from lighting (since I haven't used it) but I can see glare when driving into the sun. I was driving Diamondback Gulch near Sedona a year ago in my LR4 and going direct into the sun. Going up hill I couldn't see anything. Not even the Pink Jeeps waiting for me to finish. It was bad enough that the sun was in my eyes, but it was also reflecting off my hood.

Hey Dan, everything works great and no problems so far (ain't my first rodeo either :)) up on front I currently have a procomp single row light-bar and its a 23" or 24" maybe? I can't remember, but will be switching that to a single row 36-40" soon, nothing wrong with it just want more light up front and that's my preferred size anyways. In the past I went with this Morimoto from TRS (local shop and great friend of mine) and I love the output, only issue I had with that one is the wing/cooling fins design (instead of angling back "horizontally" they have a vertical design and a slight forward angle) ... prone to a whistling noise, working with Matt to possibly change the design.

The rear lights work like a champ see them here, and you're right the spoiler will block some light out and they are useless if the gate is up..... I've never used flods there for that reason on either car. They work great when camping int the middle of nowhere and you want to light up the place front and back while checking your surroundings. I use the tinny rigid (see previous posts) to light up the immediate vicinity while camping.

Exactly this..... glare from the sun (white car) and also lights.

Time for Tires and Wheels, went with Enkey 18x8 (5x150) and Nitto Terra Grapplers G2...... 285/65 R18

Tried (actually ran them) the Cooper Discoverer AT3's and loved them except that the shop couldn't get them balanced right, so went to Nitto. (found out after a while their machines were out of wack)..... would have stayed with the coopers :( such a nicer ride, next time I guess.

Tomas, I like the look of your wheels as they remind me of the Compomotives I had on my LR4. I don't know anything about them and I haven't seen them discussed elsewhere. Maybe I just missed it. How strong would they be for going off road? How well would they work with 280/65 R18 KO2s? Can they go on a stock 2016 LC without any modifications? I may consider leaving my snow tires on the stock wheels and putting the KO2s on something else at some point.

Enough about the LED lighting upgrades, I want to see the Flux Capacitor installation!

A little something I did on the rear hatch :)

Lord knows its needed on the LC (not sure why Toyota didn't think about this)

Yeah I know I need a prettier switch but that's what I had to work with at the time.

Ran it through the grummet on the hatch, down on driver side panel. Also I did run power through the driver side on the door still (straight from the batt - fused) to run my ARB Fridge. So I tapped into that same power line for this light.

Off: (with all LED's on inside)

I was looking at that same light, is that the low output or high output version? I believe they are 200 or 400 lumens. Thanks

Well folks that's a wrap for the YETI ......... TOTALED!

The insurance company deemed it a total lost as the damage to the vehicle and specially the frame were an expensive and timely ordeal to deal with ..... ;)

Frame alone was going to take 45 days to ship from the moment they placed the order, apparently those are build on demand in Japan and not something Toyota stocks. Not to mention the major surgery of transplanting everything to it which quite frankly I am not sure I would've been 100% comfortable with.

Semi driver was not paying attention but I am glad to report everyone walked away from this, just beat up and a freaking concussion (which I had never had one before and its definitely not fun).

On to new things I guess, removing as many of the upgrades as I could was not fun in the 24 hours they gave me (big ticket items mainly), at least they were nice to do that I guess.

Needless to say it absolutely pains me to see such an amazing vehicle just totaled, oh well. I get to start a new build all over again with the new one (black 2017, I'll post pics later)

Sorry to hear! Hopefully insurance makes you whole and this becomes opportunity to get into a new one.

On the other hand, you're lucky you still had the rear tupperwear on her. When push comes to shove, it's not the semi that's doing any crumpling to absorb impact energy. Rear armor would have made that impact way more severe to you. That said, even with stock tupperwear, she held up amazingly well.

Hope you get over that concussion soon.

Dang! Glad to hear you're okay. The cruiser can certainly be replaced. Hard to say from the pictures, but did the trucker push the x5 into you?

Thanks man, I couldn't agree with you more in all accounts. Working on recovering right now.

Thanks, yes that's exactly how it happened, we were all going around 55 or so mph when the impact happened, he smashed the x5 against me and yet the force of the impact sent him past me driver side. :(
