So yesterday I started my SAS on my long bed minitruck. Nat has graciously put me up as the thing is my only daily driver and Im hopin to drive it up to troy on sunday.

Yesterday we spent most of the day settin things up. got the 4:88 ring gear on and stalled when we realised the press was at hypoids shop.

removed the front crosmember in the frame and took the radiator out.

Today we put the truck up on blocks burned In the new crossmember/spring hanger/tow hitch and went to town on removing the IFS.

After all that hypoid ran to the shop to throw the new 7" shackles on the mill and cut some holes in them.

On the docket tomorrow is to get the diff with the aussie locker set up and installed.
Cut the holes for the shackle tubes through the frame.
Bolt on the axle and steering.
Put the breaks back together.
And fab up a mount for the new aluminum radiator.

Wish us luck!

Sounds like you guys have a long day in front of you!
Make sure you cut that bed off while you're at it and build
some kind of flat bed! : )

got back from the "N8" show an hour ago. He might actually have it ready for tomorrow. My job was to sort out the gearing on the front diff. Kind of like dumping a pile of legos on the floor and telling me it's a millennium falcon. Got it done though within the time restraints set by the significant other. Everyone was happy.

Done!

I think.

Kinda late and we did a lot, lets hope I make it to troy without leavin 4wd stuff on the highway!

Rick I cant thank you enough for your help if not for you takin over those gears I wouldnt have had a shot and here it is im ready with 7 hours to spare! 5 if you don't include the drive.

Cliff watson not on the boards but some of you have met him came out and gave me a hand for two days.

Hypoid, or Jackie played a pivotal role and I wanna thank him too! Couldn't have done it without you man I owe you some serious wrenching on your truck, lets drop a rf 151 with duel cases on my face!

And lets not forget the mige! Nat thanks a bunch for lending me your time land tools and knowledge. You and your wife put up with way too much of my crap and I thank you much for it.

Now lets go rip some stuff off my truck!

What no pics? Souldn't like you guys had a better day than I did. I was stuck in birthing class for 8 hours. I would have rather been wrenching.

I would have been stuck in my own root canal.

Ok, so after doing a few things this past winter to the 40 I got a chance to test
things out at the Meeting.

Trimmed the rockers up even with the floor. Looks cool! didn't really make a difference yesterday but
I know there will be trails where I'll be glad it was done.

Spring flip to extend wheelbase and give a better approach angle. Made a big difference driving up to obstacles. A good improvement.

Front locker, OH BABY!!!!!! huge difference! I thought that turning on the trail would have been harder but it wasn't bad at all.

Longfields, enough said!

60 series power steering box. This I was disappointed with. I really thought that it would be more of an improvement over the mini-truck box that I had been running. I'll be doing some research on changing the pulley on the pump so that there is more fluid volume going to the box at low rpm's.

SM420 and 3sp t-case. Still a work in progress, hope to have that done by July

The saginaw pump is one of the strongest on the market. I talked to PSCMOTORSPORTS.COM at length about the saginaw pump, 60 box and hydroboost. he said that that combination should be fine. pscmotorsports does alot of offroad stuff

You going to go that route? Get the Orion figured out?

If you guys ever catch me cussing a Toyota................remind me of this picture. Not a theft recovery but my son's 2007 Chevy Cobalt with a bad heater core  out of warranty, and these kids don't have a pot to piss in..............took us five hours to establish whether we would be able to actually remove it without playing with the A/C, then another five to actually fix it ............plastic heater box was hot welded together We had a pile of plastic parts bigger than the car.:bang:

Fathers day!

A few Fathers Day cards today, and I've put out the word to family that for
a birthday gift this year cash would be good.
So here's a pic of what it will be for. What will next winters wrenching be?
