Okay so "Bucky" has inspired me.
"Buck does not aspire to greatness, just betterness."
I am looking at the paint on our project Homework and while there isn't one straight panel on the whole rig, not even one, the paint is mostly there. I see a little over spray in spots which make me think it has been spot repaired or maybe Mr. T. didn't care as much back in the day. Some over spray on the door strikers for example. Anywho...
I find paint correction very relaxing and satisfying, I have all the equipment to do this project in hand. I am curious as to what the Pig Pen thinks about buffing out old paint? I have no plans on rust converting the patina but I can't tell if it is going to look worse with all the dents being highlighted by shining up the paint? This is of course subjective, but I am curious to what you think. I can buff out the paint in a long afternoon with modern equipment and compounds but it would take another 50 years to fade back to the chalky dull finish it has now.
FWIW, I think Bucky came out awesome but he is way straighter than my FJ55.
Curious as to your opinion.
Bucky Fan Club picture for reference.
And dinged up pile...
