Sorry, but just now seen this thing on here.

Hope ya'll don't mind me popping over here.

Darin,

Thanks for your offer. We've got a good size group coming over on Feb. 4th to do some work and will look hard at updating our needs to get this project done. Once we get this we'll post up an updated list.

By the way, I checked out you're site. You've got some nice looking rigs.

Thanks again,
Tom

Another good work day on the TLCA Raffle Truck. Thanks to Tom for hosting and Elaine for the delicious chili lunch! If you didn't make it out today, try to get there for the next work day, February 25th.

Today, the motor was pulled, the front axles rebuilt, the rear axles re-installed, the rear axle housing cleaned and painted, and the frame was partially cleaned up and painted.

Here's the pictures:

Feb 4 Work Crew

Thanks to Thornton and his :princess: Elaine for hosting!

Raffle Truck volunteers who worked today, in no particular order are:

H2O bug (Dane, a visiting Cruiserhead from S. Dakota)
Hakalugi (Fernando)
Stumpalama (Mike)
Jakes40 (Chris)
Trfcsux (Steve)
SAS (Tracy)
Belowdeckfab (Ryan)
Devilman's Hand (Sam)

Special thanks to Stumpalama who supplied a cleaner third member, backing plates and brake lines.

We really need donations of missing parts (see the parts thread https://forum.ih8mud.com/va-dc-md-c...ub/463518-tlca-raffle-truck-parts-needed.html) as well as funds to buy consumables (oil, grease, paint, etc.).

Monetary donations can be sent via Paypal to Treasurer@CapitalLandCruiserClub.org

All TLCA Raffle Truck funds are tracked separately from Club monies.

Saturday, February 25th was our second work-day on the Raffle Truck this month. We continued with the frame preparation and painting. At conclusion, we put the wheels on it and pushed it out of the garage for some photos.

Next work days, date TBD, will start the body preparation and/or the suspension.

Nice work you guys. It looks like you had great weather for the work day. When do you think the raffle tickets sales will begin?

Probably not until late 2012; still have some details to square with TLCA. Target raffle date is Spring 2013, if I recall correctly.

We will probably run the raffle at the end of the wheeling season in 2013. That gives us more time to show the truck at events and thus sell more tickets. It is a fund raiser afterall.

Thanks for the interest!

May Raffle Truck Work Day

Well, we had ideal weather and thanks to Tom, Chris, Eric, Steve and John we got a lot done.

Thanks to Steve for donating primer, sanding supplies, dust masks and cold drinks in addition to his time and labor. Tom as always provided the power and hand tools, electricity and hospitality and for that we are all very grateful.

We contiue to marvel at what West Coast folk consider too far gone...this truck is a creampuff by East Coast standards and we were able to make short work of quite a few of the problem areas.

We got the fenders and top of the hood sanded, straightened and primed (hood still needs a little TLC with the BFH in one spot). Eric sanded about 50 lbs. of unneeded bondo off the tub (the PO must have really hated factory spot weld dimples). We patched a few holes in the fender wells with panels cut from the donor 40 and have two small holes to weld shut as well as a few spots to hit with rust converter to stop/slow any further damage.

The tub is now on a rolling cradle that will make it easier to work on. We need to sand some surface rust off the interior tub, weld the two holes and then get some paint on the topsides as well as touch up the undercoating underneath.

We are now to the point where we need donations from the other TLCA chapters in order to buy paint.

Hopefully, some other chapters will soon step up to the plate to support this effort we are making on behalf of TLCA.

Meanwhile, we'll keep plugging away.

Thanks for looking and please think about getting involved if you haven't already.

Jon

Wow. I'm sorry I missed all that fun. No really. Sanded (burned) bondo has a special smell. And by special, I mean would give me Vietnam style flashbacks to working on my tub years ago. That is the stuff of nightmares. Good work, gents. I'll be there next month.

Hey Gents,

I was wondering if I have to be a member of the CLCC to get involved in this build. I do have a Cruiser (Allis ‘88 HJ-61) but she is still in Japan until early next year I’m going over in Nov to put her on the ship. Any way that I can help and get to know some of the members of the Club as well as learn a few things before she gets her?

Hey Gents,

I was wondering if I have to be a member of the CLCC to get involved in this build. ....

Oki -

Of course you can get involved with the TLCA Raffle Truck build without being a member. We don't expect you to join us if you don't know us, and the best way to get to know us is to spend time with us, sharing our passion for 4X4 Toyotas.

Please feel free to post up on this forum, come to meetings, trail rides, tech days, etc. It is our hope that if you enjoy doing things with the club, you will eventually want to join.

There are some perks to being an active member, such as having access to club tools and participating in certain tech day activities. Being a member also allows you to possess one of the CLCC stickers that, as legend has it, conveys mystical, magical powers to vehicles upon which they are displayed.

You can find out more about us by coming to a club meeting on the first Wednesday of each month at Kilroy's Grill on Port Royal Rd. just off Braddock Rd. and I-495. We have a few brews, talk about our trucks, eat some dinner, and have a brief business meeting. Then we adjorn to the back parking lot to kick tires, trade parts, tell lies, and covet another man's truck, etc.

Hope to meet you soon!

Jon

PS - We have lots of 60 Series owners in the club, so you'll have to keep a close eye on your diesel engine or it might come up missing some dark and stormy night:D

I will make a point to be at the meeting In June. I hope its not a problem for me :princess: to be in tow. She doesnt really get the whole 4X4 thing but supports me cause it makes me happy. I look forward to meeting everyone.

Ethan
