TJM T17 Bumper is coming Back!

I installed the Amazon cheapie lights this afternoon. I look forward to seeing if they really contribute any substantial increase in illumination. I do like that they limit access to the winch. The fin grinding, I found, was easily accomplished using a flat file. I spent more time soldering the connections and drilling the mounting holes. Winter has been hard on my plastidip grill, so I’ll wait for beauty shots until I have time to redo. I’ll probably go with satin black rattle can instead of the dip- seems like it’ll have better durability.

Does anyone know how to buy a replacement TJM plastic bumper cover? The one that sits in the middle of the bumper and covers the large access hole to the winch?
I was wheeling too hard and I guess I lost it.

Any help would be appreciatex!

Has anyone ran into problems mounting the TJM winch plate? It looks like an AC line is getting in the way. I guess my options are to adjust the plate or try and bend the AC line out of the way? The photo shows the winch plate contacting the line but not all the way back where I can bolt it up.

Mine took some persuasion. A little line relocation (gentle pulls backwards) seemed to take care of it. I know that you’re loath to disturb the powder coat, but clearancing the plate is probably fine. Avoid shape angles cuts into the plate.

Mine wasn't even close to that. If I recall, the winch plate mounts under the other two layers, lowering it enough to fit below those lines. I don't think its designed to work by itself.

I can confirm later, I am taking my bumper off today/tomorrow to bedline my truck and do a winch install.

I know this thread is old but can anyone take a quick picture of how they wired their fog lights up on the T17? I’m still not getting it to work and rather than blowing a fuse it’d be great to visually see it correctly ha thanks in advance for any help guys! Be safe out there!

Thank you. I’m always scared to pull on expensive oem lines. I did what you said and bent them into compliance. It’s close to the crossmember and winch plate so I think I will pad it with something.

That would be great to see some photos. I have a 98’ LX which may be different from the LC because of the rear AC in the LX.

Seconded, I actually held off wiring these up as I was a little bit confused myself. I too would appreciate a visual aid.

Does anyone know if I would be able to add a winch plate later on, or do I have to order it with it already?

CC is right- to add the winch plate you have to go all the way back to the start. I know it feels like an unnecessary expense right now, but mounting the bumper without the plate now may create alignment issues later when you go back to add it. My front end was tweaked, so mine may have been a special case.
As for the lights, mine are all taped up, so no longer accessible, but I’m pretty sure the ? was answered earlier in the thread.

Not too worried about taking the bumper off later down the road. I wouldn't plan to add a winch for another year at least, as I already have a good come along that hasn't let me down yet. But it is something I will be considering, so I appreciate the input. I'm slowly making my way through 27 pages with a notebook and pen in hand.

Looks great! Which red recovery points are you using there?

Thank you! They are Trail Tailor tow points. They are awesome! I used new 10.9 zinc plated 14mm x 1.5mm x 70mm bolts. 70mm was more than enough length to go through the new tow points, winch plate, and bumper mounts

Metric hex bolts, Zinc plated class 10.9 steel, 14mm x 1.5mm x 70mm
