Love that lookFinished my install last week! Getting everything lined up took some time and was much easier with a buddy to help! Not too bad, but certainly helped to have a reciprocating saw for the trimming.

I am glad I am not the only one those plate on bolts gave hell. I installed this bumper last April and those damn things confused the sh*t out of me. I could not get them oriented right and was starting to think I had lost my mind. My wife was even concerned about my well being. I finally just decided to cut the plate in half to make it fit. It was like a real life tetris game that I was LOSING.I am having a hard time understanding the bolt on plate things that go through the frame. They are supposed to insert from the inside but they hit the horn for the shell of the bumper? What am I missing?

Your truck looks great!! It was a bit of a pain. I had mine on and off a few times getting it right, and I still need to take it off again to fix something and get the fit a bit more snug before drilling the last two pinning bolts into place. Great looking grill and headlights too. DIY grill or ..?
it looks to be way more than 1 inch over stock at the longest points.Quick question - not sure if anyone would even know this. I'd like to install the T17 on my 2006 Land Cruiser but I was curious how much further out this bumper sticks that the stock, would anyone happen to know? On the garage bay I park in, if I want to leave my hitch rack on, I literally only have 1 inch to spare when the door closes. It's just a convenience to leave rack on, and I could park in another bay but not preferred. I'm assuming the T17 adds AT LEAST 1" to the vehicle length?
Frame horns require no trimming, though mine were bent and required straightening. On the LX you must trim the fascia under the grill in order to get the bumper to fit closely to the body of the car. I do not know if this is necessary with the LC. You can see the gap under the headlight- this was trimmed off, primed, and painted (simple rattlecan). The trimming can be done with tin snips, or other methods. I used a Dremel cutoff wheel and tin snips. I do not have access to the instructions currently.I am really interested in purchasing/installing this bumper. For anyone who has, could you please post or PM me the installation instructions? I just want to know what I am getting into before pulling the trigger. Namely:
Thanks in advance!
- The photo album at THIS shows a mounting bracket (albeit for the old style bumper), whereas posts #337 through #340 in this thread show what looks like a different mounting bracket that requires trimming the frame horns off. Are these the same mounts? Is it necessary to trim the frame horns?

That's good news. Thanks! You DO NOT trim the frame horns for this install. Many of us have trimmed lower horns from previous bumper installs.
That's good news. Thanks!
Two more questions:
Thanks again!
- Regarding the bolts with the metal plates welded on to the them. It looks like it would be possible to simply drill those mounting holes through both sides of the frame rail and use longer bolts instead of that kludgy-looking system. Does that seen right, or am I missing something?
- The winch tray is optional piece, correct? The bumper can be installed without the winch tray?
Fair enough, but could you elaborate on why you feel running bolts across the frame rail is not a good idea?I think you should just take the time to install those bolts as designed. I'm not a fan of running big long bolts across the frame rail like you are suggesting.
If you run a bolt through both sides of a frame without a sleeve inside the frame, you'll crush/distort the frame, i.e. pull the frame in around the bolt/nut. In addition to damaging the frame, the bolt will not attain/retain the tension. Follow the instructions.Fair enough, but could you elaborate on why you feel running bolts across the frame rail is not a good idea?
I'm not sure why they needed to weld the tabs on those bolts anyways. I bought matching grade 8 bolts And used a telescoping magnet to fish them through.
It was way easier to do this way without those tabs in the way. I did email TJM about just including a cheap telescoping magnet instead as it would have to be cheaper and more efficient than welding all of those tabs. Plus bumper buyers would get a free tool out of it. They didn't respond, but thats fine. My install went great.
