I have always thought these “T” slots on my TJM bumper were for a highlift jack. I still think that’s what they are for but apparently not my highlift. What highlift actually fits these slots?

To use my jack, I’d have to lift from under the bumper and it feels a bit sketchy.

IDK. The “T” slots are definitely made for lifting as there is reinforcement steel behind them. I could cut/grind to fit my jack.

Well the time to find out is at home at least.
Just need to import an Aus spec high lift jack.

Is your's a Hi-lift jack or some other brand of farm jack?

there are differences.. especially in the nose

the nose should go in there at a forward angle then rotate so you can position the bar back towards you (when you jack the bar comes in is why).

Thank you Sir, as a non owner of said implement I have been educated!!

Yeah, it’s not a Hi Lift brand jack. I used the term generically. I’m sure that’s the reason.

There we go... the "Nose" has its own patent from what i recall, so "farm Jacks" probably will not fit.
some further reading....https://hi-lift.com/2021/02/often-imitated-but-never-duplicated/

Time for a nose job? What has this world come to?

I just tried a real Hi-Lift brand jack and no joy with the nose fitting in the TJM tee slots. the Hi-Lift "nose" is the same as my old farmers jack. Paging @Markuson, I know you have the same bumper but not sure if you have ever tried using a Hi-Lift jack in the "tee-slots" or not. Any thoughts?

I think I just found my answer #@$%!

seems to be out of stock at TJMUSA. Even if you could find one, its only rated for 1000 kG (2200 lbs). I'm thinking about taking a grinder to the TJM slots....

Now why would they do that? makes little sense..

1000kg is not worth it.. the hi-lift is 7k for the shear pin..

i'd enlarge the holes as needed....

but this also takes the T13 off my list of bumper possibilities.. ARB's fits just fine or at least the one i tried did..
1 have to have a good hi-lift location on the front.

Or just lift off some other suitable location with something like a Factor 55 shorty strap. We used this approach yesterday to lift through holes in the wheel well, but could just as easily do it around a slider or bull bar.

I wouldn’t worry about exceeding the shear pin limits when you are lifting a fraction of the vehicle’s weight (one end or a corner). It is in a hand winching situation where all of the factors (terrain, stuck wheels, incline) that will push your load beyond the limits of that jack. Then again, if you’ve ever seen some of the ways they use those things in expeditions and competitions, you may be shocked.

I can lift each corner from the sliders but being able to lift from the front would be nice. I’ll figure something out.

TJM makes their own Hi Lift type jack, maybe it is for that?
Yep:

"This jack fits directly into our unique bull bar T-slot recovery point which has been extensively tested and can be found on many of our steel bull bars."

Yes, I found this too but it doesn't look like it is really available or at least easily available. I have a "quote" request in to TJM for it just to see. As I noted above, it is only rated for 1000 kg which would be very close to what a front corner would weigh. Its the "rated" capacity so I'm sure it would work (i.e. it can probably theoretically do double that) but the Hi-Lift is "rated" for 5000 lb (2300 kg) with a 7000 lb shear pin. It would be interesting to know the weight difference between the TJM and a 48" Hi-lift as most of the time you are just lugging it around. For me, I'm going down the path of figuring out how to use my Hi-Lift on it rather than getting the TJM jack.

This works but just barely with a 48” jack. Had to take the claw piece off the end and just got the tire off the garage floor about 1/8”.

Or you can lift from the big winch access holes.

Maybe I should have got a 60” jack. Do most folks carry a 60” jack?

It won’t take much trimming of the tee slots to make them work.
