so it's about that time to buy new tires. I'm debating bumping up to 315's. I'm currently running a 2" ome heavy lift and 4.88s. Currently 295 ko2 are under the truck. I get 11/15 mpg and the truck fits in the garage. I fill up about 1 time a week. The truck sees mostly roads and I intend to dolly tow my 77. Brakes are getting refreashed soon. In all honesty I don't need 315's but they look cool as s***. Experts weigh in please and thank you.

I have been considering BFG 315/70-17. They measure 34.4”. Sounds like you will have the proper gearing for 315’s. You should consider control arms.

@divemedic most experts here say to run the smallest tire that fits your needs.
Big tires on a 100 eats steering racks, CVs much quicker than 35s especially if wheeled alot

Good advice. The truck has the original steering rack so probably not in my best interest at the moment.

i have 295s, got less then a year out of the steering racks and cv's.
But they do look badass.

Was that on a new rack and CVs or ???
I was in Denver for 5 months and I had t oreplace the original Steering Rack. I wheeled a bunch while there abd had been on 4 wheelin trips before that. I am on 285s with 1in of lift

This will be my third rack on the car. I have the 2inch lift, and I think this will be the second time we do the cv's, maybe 3.
I don't take her out as much as I wish, but when I do I'm not shy with it.

I was debating the same thing, it all comes to the weight of the tire. 315's Duratrac are lighter than a 10 ply 295 KO2 by a couple of pounds.
The 295's are getting harder to get day by day.

You know you've made your mind up already. go 315's and you know you'll like it. I went 295's and I'm happy, but I know when they wear out I'll give 315's a shot.

The price is so close for the 2 sizes that it's not a concern. But a steering rack would certainly make it an extra $1k++ purchase (the price of another set of tires - or money towards other things).

Anyone close to you have 315's you can test drive ? I went from 33's to 35's on my last car ... Then 2 weeks later installed gears to compensate $$$. I know you're running 4.88s so that's in your favor.

My 2 cents... was in the same boat last week and I went 295. Mostly because I purchased aftermarket 16's with an agreesive offset and didn't want to rub on every dip, sharp turn, and speed bump.

Tough call. Either way commit and don't second guess yourself to death.

Any pics? Even im planning for 315' . Rite now 285/70/17 fitting on rig. But 315 look beefy ;)

315/70/17 look pretty good.

Good grief...looks like one of those snow trucks. Got a front view?

Here's another example for folks. 315/75/16 Toyo RT. They are a fairly narrow 315, so stock wheels and a 5mm spacer in the front clears UCA... Running AHC with stock sensors maxed. Only about a 1" lift in N, but of course I have another 1-1.5" lift at the push of a button. Not that it really matters that much...without a body lift if they are going to rub, then they are going to rub...it's just a matter of where in the arc of movement it happens. Running wheeler soft bumpstops in front which should mitigate rub in most circumstances. Remember you WILL 103% definitely have to trim the plastic at the bottom of the wheel well and flatten the pinch weld.
