I am planning on mounting general grabber A2's on my 2004 landcruiser, the size 265/70/r18 116s sl is a little taller than stock at a diameter of 32.6 according to general tire's site and 32.1 according to tirerack's site the tread width is 10.7, I currently have terra grapplers that are 11.50 wide and 31.5 diameter they have fit with no problems.
My suspension is stock , I seem to recall people putting 33's on a stock suspension without issues before. Would appreciate any expierience with this or opinions.

Honestly, I'm not sure. The PO had it installed. I'll be doing some work soon and have some things apart, so I plan on looking into how everything is wired. It's seems like it's done really well. The dock/wire is run through the console near the DVD/CD changer. You almost don't even notice it. I'll PM you when I get into it.

Just don't get BFG's. They'll ruin your truck and leave you stranded.

Duratracs are the best over everything. There's NOTHING that's better than them. They are by far the BEST. Anyone with BFG's can or ANY other tire from ANY other manufacturer can Kiss Duratracs fat skidmarks all the way up and down the snowy patch!!

Nittos are FAR better that any Goodyear or BFG offering. Have you seen their marketing? They even say that they are better!!! IT IS ALL IN PRINT!!!!

I and my Nittos have driven over trails and obstacles that my friends say are WAY more technical and dangerous than RUBICON so I assure you that Nittos are hands down the best tire ever created in the history of the automobile.

"Pfran, you are going to rub straight through your wheel wells!".....LOL

Nice. Get the Grabber AT2 if you can find a set. I could not find them in a 275 70 18 so I went with the Wrangler AT Silent Armor... Why the 265 70 18 and not 275 70 18?

I've heard those Grabber AT2's are very good. In fact, if I remember correctly, they bear the Snowflake symbol which the BFG's no longer do, as well, they are studdable.

The Grabbers are ranked #7 according to Consumer Reports. At least that's where 'G' falls in the alphabet. At least get a Falken and upgrade to #6. :)

My BFG's purchased this past fall still carry the snowflake symbol. And they've been quite good in the snow this year!

So dura tracs are #4 then? Sweet. I am loving this, a tire thread with some passion.....

I will bite......Nakman turned me on to Maxxis Bighorns a while back...And although he has since moved on from this brand.. I really like them.

Going to buy my 3rd set here in a month or so...No not cause they wear out fast but because I have changed vehicles like most change skivys....

I don't think they are exceptional on snow but they do all right. Really gripy for Moab/Utah trips.

So what if anything do I need to do if I want to go with 315s, can I pull it off with out any wheel well shaving? Found the thread....

Yesterday i was reading a very entertaining thread (mostly with schotts vs everyone else) about tire size, fitment in the wheel well, and rubbing. I couldn't seem to put the answer to my question together. When someone goes to a 35" tire, what are the concerns about? So far, i've figured out they are:

1. Fitment into the wheel well/clearance with the fender on compression of the suspension (lest you desire the ripped of fender look)
2. Rubbing with the wheel well liner
3. Rubbing on part of the metal in the wheel well (can fix by bending in as per spresso)

Is there anything else that is of concern? I will not be going up to a 35 therefore i really could care less about what to do to accomodate a 35 (ie. body lift, spacers, etc.) I am asking for my own personal understanding of the issue. I'm someone who like to know about the "why".

Also seems like it depends on which wheel size 35' you pick...

Seems like 18s, 17's narrow enough to miss UCAs, 16s maybe not so much.
