I can't read anything meaningful from your tire picture, so I'm left to make some assumptions:

If your tire is the ISO-Metric 285/50R20 116S XL tire and you are using it on an LX570, then:

The RCTIP for those 285/50R20 116S XL tires on your LX570 is 34psi F/R.

Hope I'm right :hmm:

Hey Gaijin,

What is the max pressure I can run on 285/50/20 Michelin defender LTX ms2 tires? Not looking for the ideal pressure, but rather the maximum pressure I can safely run to optimize fuel economy as well as firming up the ride to be a bit more sporty.

Toyoda, I'm fairly a new member to this board and wondering what's the source of RCTIP? Is it the based off the GAWR and specific tire loading cart?

The side of the tire tells you what your max cold inflation pressure can be, and you could drop from there

The only 20" size Michelin lists on their site for the LTX M/S2 tire is 275/55R20 113H - so, you must have a different tire.

Maybe the Michelin Defender LTX M/S? Michelin lists that tire in size 285/50R20/XL 116H with a Max. Load 2756 Lbs @ 50psi.

But you are really asking two questions:

What is the Max pressure?
What is the maximum pressure I can safely run?

Max pressure is embossed on the sidewall of the tire. This may or may not be more than the 50psi for Max Load, but even if it is higher the Max Load does not increase.

Any pressure above the RCTIP can decrease safety margins for other performance parameters. Higher pressure means longer braking distances, less ability to safely perform emergency maneuvers due to lowered traction, more liklihood of punctures when encountering hard obstacles like curbs, etc. So, I can recommend no pressure above RCTIP as "safe."

Apologies. Question has been answered above. Thank you.

No apologies necessary. Even as a new member, your question was perfectly stated and provided all the info I need to give a RCTIP.

As a reward for that, you get your own answer:

The RCTIP for those Toyo Open Country A/T III LT275/65R18 113/110T Load Range C tires on your LC200 is 45psi F/R.

Thanks for the great question, and welcome aboard!

I appreciate it, thank you!

Hello @gaijin! Awesome reference database you are building here. Super helpful. Can I get your thoughts on RCTIP for Toyo Open Country ATIII LT285/70R17 116/113Q Load C on a 2016 LC with Icon Vector 5 wheels? Thanks in advance!

Sure.

The RCTIP for those LT285/70R17 tires on your 2016 LC200 is 40psi F/R.

Not sure what I am supposed to do here. The door says 33. Can’t make sense of this. Shall I simply reset and see what happens? Guy at repair shop put way too much in the spare, will get under and take some out. Thanks!

@tmnt25 Adjust the pressures with the tires cold to the RCTIP. Once you do that all five will read the same (correct) pressure. Pressure will increase as the road tires heat up, of course, but the RCTIP is your baseline/starting point. The sticker on the door is irrelevant if you are running anything other than stock tires or equivalent.

Thank you in advance, kind sir, for the service you provide to this community.
2020 LC with Toyo Open Country AT3 LT285 /65 R18 125S E1??
Just got a 2021 LC and was thinking about getting Toyo at3s as well but wanted to confirm if you had put any kind of lift, leveling kit, cut part of the wheel well to fit the 285/65s? I wanted to get that size as well but my shop couldn‘t confirm if they would rub at all so they recommended I stick to the stock 285/60s. Thanks for your time.

No rubbing at all and no mods to stock suspension. A little noisier than the ko2s im used to, but way better wet traction. Have only been on fire roads so far so no major offroading experience yet on them.
