Does anyone run chains on their 35" or larger tires? Mine are 315/75/16 and I'm worried about the chains hitting on the inside of the wheel, for example on the tie rod... due to the wider tire.

If you do... do you run them on front and rear, or only rear? And how is the clearance?

I run chains on my 315/75/16's. No problems whatsoever.

I have a 3.5" of lift. My chains are walmart special that I custom lengthened with some HD quicklinks and lengths of chain. the chains are super tight on my tires once I throw on the tensioners.

I think if you get some chains that fit and if you cut off any extra links once you get them fit, AND have 3-4" of lift you will be fine.

I run chains on all four tires. Never seen a mark on the tie rod, links, control arms ect from the chains. Just get them fit up nice and tight and use some extra rubber bungees for extra tension.
 
Clearance is fine with your tire, just make sure they're snug. The first point of contact I've found while running chains with even wider tires is the at the right rear inner wheel well on panhard bar mounting bracket on the frame.
 
Ok, now I have options. D'oh! After talking with the distributor, they said that I can either go with the

Laclede Alpine Super Sport, a 8mm chain, part #2536, which is apparently great for highway use but not really for "off road deep snow" use. This is the "diamond" style pattern. OR,
Laclede 8mm V-bar, which is a horizontal style, part #3829, which is apparently NOT good for highway use but great for deep snow.

Any opinions or experiences before I make up my mind? :) I'm thinking they will get more use in the deep snow for me personally, since the 80 is pretty decent on it's own on the highway without chains. However... that odd occasion where the highway is a sheet of ice............... and apparently the diamond style are easier to put on and stay a little tighter around the tire... hmm

Is the diamond style the quick connect?

Know a couple people who run the diamond style quick connects, works fine in deep snow. The horizontal style might be slightly better, but not enough to worth the extra hassle IMHO.

That's kind of what I was thinking. Yes the diamond style is the "quick connect". They're both 8mm chains, not cables, which is good.

Those are good chains. My thoughts on the on the diamond pattern is they also help reduce lateral slipage, ride nicer, and are pretty simple to but on.

I have the quick-install diamond pattern for my 2WD Tahoe. They're very easy to install with the vehicle stationary. I just switched to 35's on my 80 and haven't bought chains for those tires yet. That said, my understanding is that the principle advantage of the easy-on "Rudd" style chain is that you can install them fully without moving the truck (i.e., already stuck), while the other styles require moving the vehicle forward/backward a few inches to complete the install. AFIK, Rudd isn't available for 315/75R/16, though the Laclede is. If the Laclede has the same easy install feature as the Rudd, that's what I'll likely end up with.

I highly encourage "dry-fitting" them in your driveway for 2 reasons, fit and know how to get them on. Grab a small tarp or something as well for when you do use them or need to put on in the snow its a little more comfy ;) just my last .02.
 
38.7 " xmls. I run 4 wheels with v bar chains when necessary.if I need or can get away with running chains on only one axle,i run them on the FRONT.better steering/braking and control imo
