Timing w/ Vac Gauge

When adjusting the timing with a vac gauge I adjusted to max vac then gave it a little tard' and tightened her up. Runs great but the BB is almost all the way out of the window when I put the timing light on it.
Do you guys have this much advance on your rigs?
Would this cause it to run a little rough when the motor is cool?

I got all my other issues figured out (I hope) and this is all that is left.

When the BB is at the bottom of the window, you are really close to 12° BTDC

You think this would cause a little rough running until warm?

I am thinking when I adjusted the valves..they need a little more adjusting.

I had the same issue when I rebuilt my 9/72 engine and tried to time it with a timing light. Ran like crap so went back to the vaccuum guage. I believe my timing is about identical to yours. I do choke to start, but had to on my 8/74 before...Not sure if I have to, but I run mine about once a week so sits between starts. Hope this helps
