I went to toyotapartsandservice.com to look at service intervals on my wife's 2006 4runner. (2wd, I BELIEVE non interference) that rolled 90k yesterday.
For the crowd that just gasp bc I have not been pro active and ordered parts and readied the garage....I fall in line with those that believe service intervals are to be adhered to but not so stricly as to pull over and do it ON THE DOT. The TB looks great and it will be done before 100k
SO, I digres. I went and put in our data for our 4runner and got this:
2006 4Runner 90,000 Miles - 108 Months
q Replace engine oil and oil filter1
q Rotate tires
q Lubricate propeller shaft (4WD)
q Replace spark plugs6
q Replace timing belt7
q Re-torque propeller shaft bolt
q Replace engine air filter
q Replace cabin air filter (if equipped)
q Inspect the following:
__ Automatic transmission fluid
__ Ball joints and dust covers
__ Brake lines and hoses
__ Brake linings/drums and brake pads/discs8
__ Drive belts
__ Drive shaft boots (4WD)
__ Engine coolant9
__ Exhaust pipes and mountings
__ Front differential oil (4WD)
__ Fuel lines and connections, fuel tank band and fuel tank vapor vent systemhoses
__ Fuel tank cap gasket
__ Radiator core and condenser
__ Rear differential oil
__ Steering gear box
__ Steering linkage and boots
__ Transfer case oil (4WD)
Additional Maintenance Items for Special Operating Conditions:
Driving While Towing
q Replace front differential oil (4WD)
q Replace rear differential oil, including limited-slip
q Replace transfer case oil (4WD)
q Tighten nuts and bolts on chassis
Driving in Desert or On Dirt Roads
q Tighten nuts and bolts on chassis
Applicable Footnotes:
1) Reset the oil replacement reminder (“MAINT REQD”) light after replacingengine oil, if vehicle is equipped with this light.
6) Applies to 4Runner with1GR-FE. Required under the terms of the Emission Control Warranty.
7) Applies to 4Runner with2UZ-FE.
nd disc runout.
9) See Maintenance Definitions (Engine Coolant) for details.
We have a 1GR-FE (V6) and I was wondering why the 2UZ TB is listed but not for the 1GR? I looked from 60k to 105k for the 1GR TB but didn't see it. I can only assume Toyota doesn't list the TB for the 1GR because it's NON interference?
someone school me here? I know it needs to be done but this peaked my interest.
Related to this I plan to do this list, any recommendations:
1. Timing Belt
2. Clean MAF
3. Water pump
4. Spark plugs
5. thermostat
6. autotensioner?
7. tensioner pulley
8. idler pulley
I am guessing $1k approximately. (I live in MS and have an independent toyota specialty shop in mind.)
Thanks
