Just wanted to see if anyone had used these. Probably going to just replace with OEM but double checking before i do. Thanks!

and no i dont want DT Headers, thanks :)

From what I've heard the only way to go is OEM or Doug Thorley long tube headers. Dorman/aftermarket ones suffer from lower quality catalysts which fail a lot sooner than original equipment ones. I chose to go DT and happy I did, definitely advise you to do the same if you can.

The job is terrible. I have headers and they took over 20 hours of my time. If you're going to invest the time/money, either get OEM Toyota/Lexus manifolds or DT headers. Even if you use OEM Toyota/Lexus manifolds, they'll crack again in the future as the design flaw was never fixed (but, that might be a decade out). DT headers are the only way to actually fix it. I can only imagine aftermarket manifolds being worse than OEM.

Either way, you don't want to do this job twice.

FYI you can sell your old cats. I got $585 for mine.

Where did you sell them at? thats good to know!

^^^ What he said, would like to know too. My Cats are done on my V8 4runner I'm just waiting to get some extra cash to buy OEM.

I sold them at a local scrap yard. This was in 2021, at the height of the stolen catalytic converter boom. I found one scrapyard that was in a rather rough neighborhood in the city and one that was in the sticks. I picked the sticks....they gave me cash after showing them a copy of my ID. They did have to check the numbers on the cats before accepting them.

Assuming your in a metro area, chances are there are at least a couple of metal recycling yards that will buy the cats. I'm not sure if used cat prices are as high as they were in 2021, but it's still a good deal even at half that.

Haha funny enough this post was actually for my V8 4runner, not many good forums for them. it only has 110k on it. GX is still fine somehow at 240k though!

Im out in the sticks myself! i'll look around and see what i can find! thanks!

OEM will crack before the cats go bad
Generic cats will go bad before they crack

The difference in cost 100% has to do with the quality of the cats. I'd stick with OEM

if you go OEM manifolds replace your engine mounts and check all you exhaust hanger isolators. Things pack out, stretch or break causing additional stresses on the poor mani rail design. Replacing your engine mounts and checking all your exhaust hanger rubber can help those new manifolds last a decade instead of 14 months b/c riding on packed out mounts...
