The job is terrible. I have headers and they took over 20 hours of my time. If you're going to invest the time/money, either get OEM Toyota/Lexus manifolds or DT headers. Even if you use OEM Toyota/Lexus manifolds, they'll crack again in the future as the design flaw was never fixed (but, that might be a decade out). DT headers are the only way to actually fix it. I can only imagine aftermarket manifolds being worse than OEM.
Either way, you don't want to do this job twice.
FYI you can sell your old cats. I got $585 for mine.
Im out in the sticks myself! i'll look around and see what i can find! thanks!Haha funny enough this post was actually for my V8 4runner, not many good forums for them. it only has 110k on it. GX is still fine somehow at 240k though!^^^ What he said, would like to know too. My Cats are done on my V8 4runner I'm just waiting to get some extra cash to buy OEM.
I sold them at a local scrap yard. This was in 2021, at the height of the stolen catalytic converter boom. I found one scrapyard that was in a rather rough neighborhood in the city and one that was in the sticks. I picked the sticks....they gave me cash after showing them a copy of my ID. They did have to check the numbers on the cats before accepting them.
Assuming your in a metro area, chances are there are at least a couple of metal recycling yards that will buy the cats. I'm not sure if used cat prices are as high as they were in 2021, but it's still a good deal even at half that.
