Long time reader - first time poster from South Dakota.
Have been helping my brother on and off with his 2 FJ55's for a while and since he's now acquired a third FJ, it's time to jump into the fray.
First - is a 1976 that he rescued from a shelterbelt some years ago with a dead 2F. Possible oil starvation. He's had the spring over axle modifications done and has high steer mods. Current engine is a small block 283 with adapter to the Toyota tranny/transfer case. Much detail work still needed to get this to a point where the engine could be started.
Second - is a '74 with what is likely the original 2F still in it. (Not running but turns over). It was slated to be used by a fire department for jaws of life training when he rescued that one. Haven't tried to get it started.
Third - FJ55 also a '76 has been added recently to the collection. Small block 327 with the same adapter to the Toyota trans/transfer case. (Runs and drives!)
The object is to eventually end up with a solid running example customized to his liking that will be used to run about town and not for any heavy trail use.

First question:
If he elects to sell the damaged 2F from the "spring over" '76, what's the fair price knowing a complete rebuild is in its future.
We know it has a least two spun main bearings. Rods appear OK. Valve train and cam condition are unknown. We are both pretty good around cars/engines but we ARE NOT engine builders.

I will attempt to attach some pics as background.
This is the first 1976. Seized 2F removed. 283 partially installed.

Agree as an owner of couple pigs there is another page which can be 55 specific. However your question regarding 2f is a good one.

I’d keep my eyes in classifieds for a 2f, save your self a lot of heart ache and time trying to secure parts.

Many folks pulling good running engines for swaps.

I’ve recently acquired a sbc 55 and drove it 1000 miles home. Power better than any 2F and my other 2F is tricked out with 3FE components and 5 speed but come nowhere to matching torque with sbc.
Hope to see ya in the pig pen!

FYI - if the engine in the ‘74 is original, it is probably the 1.5F. Not quite the 2F that came in mid-‘75.

Eastern South Dakota. Mitchell to be exact. He's aware of the BHCC but has never had a running FJ that would make the trip!
That's right near where they make Trail Manor campers!
One year I drove up to the Classic and then went over there to have them do some repairs on our Trail Manor.
