Go over the back and sides with a magnet.

It was changed to a floor shift. 3 speed or 4 speed?

Is the motor a 2F? Or just a 2F valve cover?

Non original air cleaner. Can’t tell but maybe non original carb?

Not the original ignition either.

Looks nice but the first impression screams bondo express.
It is either a bad putty job under the doors or rust bubbling.
As suggested use a magnet.
You don't want a strong one.
If you can get a magnet gauge made for body work.

well, the bezel is on correctly. looks to me like it side swiped a tree on the drivers side. cowl apron fender joint DS is askew, door panel window frame is bent, top has dent, running board dent, doors fit poorly, paint is bad. all that aside just make sure if you drive away you get the real story on this thing. the interior looks pretty good and it appears to have the vacuum 4WD operation. 3 on the floor has some advantages over the stock 3 on the tree, like no janky linkage. And the wheels and tires look nice. For sure it's not all original, again just make sure you get the whole truth.

No spare tire carrier, or the mounting holes for the hinges. As far as price, all is up to the buyer. If it has some good bones, it may be negotiable a bit. I have seen many FJ40s go for ridiculous prices , so all is up to you.

Would this be located in Glennville?

Yep, Bondo. It appears the body seam at the B pillar has been filled in. There's probably more rust than it shows.

Magnets are good!

My May, 69 is original and has rectangular turn signals— I thought the round ones were for pre 69 40s. Also, is that an 1F engine? BTW, I would stay far away from this one for all the reasons mentioned above.

Sorry but that thing is a 50 footer it only looks good from 50 feet away. As a previous member pointed out the seams on the body panels are covered up. The left fender apron doesn’t line up with the body. Doors are closing right. I see bubbles and different shades of paint. Not worth $12k.

After all that’s been said against this fj40, consider the fact that the owner said “no rust except the drivers floor” to me that is just a downright lie!

Rusty rockers on both sides and what looks like runs in the paint on the right rear. There are probably other red flags

All the hole to mount the spare tire are gone on the right rear corner so it has to had some work done there.

Both doors stick out in back on the bottom and in at the top. Damage to the driver's door with the top piece Mayes to the bottom. Damage in the hard top just behind that. Do not see the spot welds where the top of the wheels attach to the quarter panels. No welds on the rear sill where the quarter panels overlap.
