Do you have any regret(s) of running this size with just the TB cranked up on factory height? I am leaning toward the Cooper Discoverer AT3, as I want a nice wearing long tread life A/T. I've seen a lot of pics of 100's with 295's and they seem to fit fine. I don't mind massaging a little bit to prevent rubbing. It will be my DD and will see some off road action,snow ice and longer road trips. Nothing where I'll be full flexed or drooped very often. that's what my 80 is for. BTW I am running tundra wheels and no spacers if that makes a difference
 
You mention width (295mm) and rim size (18"), but I didn't see where you mention aspect ratio...

Are you asking about the 295/70R18 size?

I have not run this size so take this with a grain of salt but, why? The list of problems that comes with this size far outweighs the positive. You will contact the front fender lip if you have the wheel turned even if you are not at full compression. Heavy, expensive, hard on weak front diff, hard to carry a spare, poor on road performance including mpg, rubbing, but other than that it will look good if that's your thing. Most people would never notice that you stuffed a 295 over say a 285 option. I have read some people that have switched back and really liked the performance gain and overall change. Others love the 295 but they seem to be serious about off road clearance and performance and realized going in that it was an expensive endeavor to gain extra clearance. If I thought I had to have this size I would keep them on another set of wheels and have something else for daily driving.

I run the 295 on 16", but am lifted so will not comment on clearance for you. I don't think it is quite as bad as jayM says on some points. The 295 is 3.5 lbs heavier than a 285 but that's not much for 60 lb tire. The stock front diff is not impacted by the 295, after over 40K with them, many of those hard offroad miles, I broke the stock front diff but had nothing to do with tires. I did four bounces on a huge ledge and think it would of broke with factory street tires. (video is posted in this forum) I do like their performance in sand.
The only clearance issue at any suspension position I had was seam on back of passenger side fender well, but a big hammer took care of that. I have always heard that 315 (35") were the expensive leap.
 
I'm running 275/70/18 Toyo AT II and getting a little rubbing on full turns
 
i run 295/65r18 with the torsion bars cranked and they don't rub at all anymore after i removed these plastic guards that are held in by 2 bolts which is an easy fix. i love them.

oh yeah i may also note my front bumper is gone so i have no clearance issues with that. I'm not sure about full compression but I've hit bumps pretty hard and no rubbing so far.
 
Thanks for the replies. I'm about to pull the trigger on some 275/70/18 cooper at3's tomorrow. It will be a significant upgrade from tires on there now. Maybe down the road after I install a lift I'll go up to 295s.
 
run 295/70/18 SST's at stock height and have the slightest rubbing at full lock (cant hear it but can see on the frame where it rubs). I wouldn't go with a smaller tire.
 
Yeah I'm tempted, but the cost is also about 330 more for the set of 4. maybe next time

Can you post some pictures of the wheels and tires installed? I'm leaning towards this option and would like to see the fit and clearance.

I had set of at3's on my old 4runner and loved them. great on the highway and performed really well for me offroad.
 
As posted above the issue is with the tire turned you WILL get fender contact on compression with 295/70-18. This problem is bigger with AHC due to the ease of travel. If you run 295/70-18 you will need to bump stop the front to avoid the possible contact.

I have the opportunity to buy these tires and wheel set. Do you see any issues fitting the truck as in plug and play or do I need spacers?

Those are plug and play for sure. I run 285/65/18 which equate to 32.6" tires and I have zero rub and zero issues on a stock LX with AHC and no spacers. Those 255/70/18 equate to a 32.1" tire. I'd say you'd be more than fine.
 
No issues. But why are you putting those on? If for MPG improvement, prepare for disappointment, they are heavy compared to the OEM alloys. If you just got a smoking deal on some Tundra takeoffs, rock on...
