Hey everyone, I have been searching this forum and others for the past few weeks and not had much luck finding the information im looking for. My grandfather has a 99 LX470 with 350k miles. His AC hasnt worked for a few years but last year I recharged it and it blew cold for a few weeks. He called me and told me it had stopped working so I assumed the refrigerant had leaked out but it was in fact not blowing air at all. The blower motor was squeaking really bad so i replaced it but still no change. I pulled out the cabin air filters and cleaned what i could of the evaporator but still no change. At max fan speed there is the faintest bit of air through the vents that does change when you change the modes so I think the mode door is working. I pulled the ECU out and can see the recirculation door moving when changing the mode and that does not affect the air out of the vents. Currently thinking there might be a blockage somewhere in the system but I dont know how to go about investigating. Do i need to pull the dashboard out or is there a chance I can fix it with it in?

Yes the fan increases with as you increase it on the climate control. when you pull the cabin filter door off you can feel the air coming out from there, its just not making it to the vents

OK so the fan is receiving signal to increase speed and is responding correctly. Cool. You know the blend doors are opening as you can see them and feel the change in air direction. This makes me think there's a blockage shortly after the blower fan. It could be another door just after the fan is stuck, or some kind of foreign object. I'd pull the fan out and inspect right above it. It's only 3 screws and I'm pretty sure it comes out without having to remove the glove box.

I am a bit dumb I guess. The blower motor harness at some point was cut and hard wired in. When i installed the new blower motor the wire colors were different and I guess I installed reversed! Swapped the wires and now we have air! Thanks for your quick responses. I will definitely be making more use of this forum in the future! I just bought my mom a GX470 to replace her Sienna. We love these cars.

Great success! Congrats on finding the fix.
