Ok so my uncle brought me his 98 cruiser with no power. He had a new battery in it but it had been sitting for about 4 months. So there was a bunch of fuses blown so I replaced all those and found the fusible link not having power on the other side. Since the truck had 0 power and I charged the battery the link and everything came on like it supposed to. So here's the problem lol I took the truck for a test drive and had no throttle until I pushed really hard and then would throttle up. Also when it did start to go it wouldn't shift out of first. Where it sat for so long with no power it didn't have any check engine lights on and im kinda lost on it. Anyone have dealt with this or have any clues?

Early 2UZ’s have throttle body issues that do what you’re describing. I’d start by cleaning the throttle body well.

No CEL? If there's a failure in one or more of the coil packs the truck will go on "limp mode" which is what you're describing with the unresponsive throttle, but that usually comes with a CEL on.

If you have access to a code reader or even better Techstream, you can see if maybe you accidentally cleared the CEL light with the battery being unhooked. Worst case you are in the same boat as you are now 🤷🏼‍♂️

There’s a fuse for the throttle as well- when I got my 100 from the docks (import) the long shoremen had kindly boosted it backward.

It should chuck a code, but took a couple of minutes of driving to get it to come up.

Make sure you see the check engine light come on when you start it. When I purchased mine the CEL was burned out.
