I own a 2006 LX with 215K miles. It's in great shape and drives like a dream. I've been offered $20K for it.

I can purchase a local 2008 LC with 155K miles for $30K (owned by a family member).

I'm tempted to take the plunge over to a 200 series, but I'm wondering if I should get a 2013+ with less miles and more money, of course.

For those of you who have gone from a 100 to a 200, thoughts?

I've never owned a 100 series, so I can't answer that questions directly. I can however tell you that I purchased a 2013 about a year ago, and I immediately started asking myself why I didn't just save money and buy an 08-11. In my opinion the small amount of tech upgrades are not worth the money difference. I think the biggest positive difference is the front end design, but I'm not sure its worth it.

Bringing mileage into the discussion, that's a personal preference. Everyone will tell you to get the lowest mileage you can afford, but keep in mind the value of knowing the vehicles history. If you know the previous owners and trust that it was well taken care of, that's worth more than 50K miles of unknown.

You’ll be hard pressed to find anyone here who regrets going from a 100 to a 200. It’s just a better vehicle in almost every way.

Buying a ‘13 or newer is totally a preference thing. If tech-wise you’re happy with the 100 and the 08 is clean and taken care of, I say go for it.

I bought a ‘13 with 75k about 4 years ago and absolutely love it. If I could go back in time I would pay half and get one with double the miles. Save your money and get the older one. Also, I had a ‘99 LX that I sold recently and although it was a great vehicle, I honestly haven’t missed it one day just like Charlie said. Do the deal and never look back!

I myself am worried about missing my 100. if I move up to a 200....

One way to look at this is the 200-series is a 100-series with the benefit of youth and steroids. It has more brawn and capacity all around. Drives incrementally larger, deliberate, and heavier. Obviously with more modern functions and automation.

I had the same 2006 LX, that is still in the family with my brother. I think the only thing I miss is it's period avant garde style which stands out, especially against today's styling language. In contrast to the early 200-series LCs that blends into the background. Until modified. 2006 was also the latest, greatest, and most powerful (vvti) 100-series. Looks so old school fresh every time my brother comes over.

No regrets moving up. I needed the heavy hauling capacity. Other than that, it woks pretty much like the 100-series.

Just pull the trigger. I did and don’t regret it.. I also still have the 100 because the gal liked the 200 so much it’s hers now

How are parts supplies holding up for the 100 series?

100 has a little more character, but you'll forget all about that when you stomp on the gas pedal.

For the money why not look at the lx570?

Coming from 100 series I can tell you I loved my old truck but found a new love fast and the 100 series looks like an old girlfriend in the rear-view mirror... nice but would not go back.

I purposely looked for 2011 as it had heated steering wheel and few other things 2008 didn't have and the price savings gave me a good budget for modifications, I always wanted...

Buy what makes sense financially to you - I don't think there will be any regrets moving up to the 200 platform.

Get a 200 and never look back. I have never once missed the 100 I sold. (I have missed my 80s...) The 200 is substantially better in every way.
Came here to say this. My 100’s were great rigs and cheap at the time. I paid $7500 for a 2001 LC bought on mud. They have caught fire price wise while the 200 is nearing the bottom of the depreciation curve.

The 200 does everything better than my 100. The engine is smooth, reliable, and has lots of 💪. Ahc On my LX is fantastic as well. The only thing on my 100 I miss is 16 in wheels and the rear vent windows.

To me, the biggest deciding factor between the 100 and 200 would have to be the subjective driving "feel" of each. They both may be Land Cruisers, but they each seem to have their own personality. The 100 reminds me a lot of being behind the wheel of an 80 Series. The 200 feels like a completely different animal, with a larger presence.

Frankly, I would have chosen a 100, but I couldn't find one that wasn't beat to hell with 200k miles and priced at a king's ransom. The 200 Series was a better value when I bought mine 4 years ago.

Own both then make a decision! You'll just end up keeping both of them in the end.
That's what I did! I got an LX570 to tow my Airstream, but I still love my LX470 and my wife said to just keep it. The 570 is definitely nicer and more powerful, but I think the 470 is more fun to drive and looks better. It also has much better visibility IMO. Since this photo I've added KO2s and Tundra wheels to the 570.

I think I'm subconsciously driving the 570 more in order to keep the miles off the 470. :)

After owning two 80’s , I went shopping for a newer Landcruiser/LX.I test drove a 17 570 and it just didn’t feel like the Cruiser‘s that I had grown to love.Too generic, drove like a boat(no road feel),crappy vision, way too many gadgets, not to mention the $65k that they wanted for it.I ended up with an 06 470 at 1/3 the price(no car payments) in excellent rust free condition and couldn’t be happier.

I've owned a 2000, a 2004, and a 2013. Of those we still have the 04 and the 13. The 04 is the one that puts the biggest smile on my face. Don't get me wrong, the 200 is a great truck and better in almost every metric. Wife loves the dual climate, vented seats, heated wheel, and better sound system. And the 200 tows better. But there's just something more magical about the 2004. Part of it is the projection of space; the 100 feels smaller from the cockpit, like you wear the 100 but sit in the 200. The adjustable arm rests in the 100 are much beloved. Another thing I love in the 100 is the trans. I know everyone loves a 6/8/10 spd trans these days. I love the old school 5. 4th to climb, 5th to cruise. Simple and durable. I don't mind the lack of snap of a lower 1st and a few more cogs in between. In the 200 I feel that it's always in the 4/5/6 hunt. I often manually limit to 4 or 5 but it seems way more to manage than the A750F. I probably could just let it go and do its thing but hunting transmissions bug and I live in the mountains so rolling highway grades are a thing. On the 04 the AHC is completely shot and several speakers are blown. But even at 175k miles it still tickles me. In fact, I'm thinking about moving the 04 out of the 'spare' vehicle role into my primary.

I've owned somewhere around 30 vehicles in my life and have found that my favorites have rarely been the new ones or the ones that seemed the best on paper. The man/vehicle connection is very 'nuancey'... it's like trying to define what makes a great friend. Often times the latter are the ones with more flaws but the better connection.

I've often wondered if the 06-07 (vvt-i) isn't the Goldilocks of the Cruisers...
