I still haven't gotten around getting those inserts in the tail lights.

LFD Crossbars installed. Haven't gotten higher than 50 MPH yet so no comment on wind noise at the moment.

Nice to see the roller fairlead on the bumper!

About to be three years that I have had Big Lexy. 23k trouble-free miles. Falkens still have 9/32" on them. You want to hear an atrocity? My friend's dad just brought a Sierra 2500, and it's brand new tires also have 9/32" of meat on its rubber. Apparently OEMs are cheaping out on the tires and getting tires only have half tread depth. Leave it to corporate America to find new ways to pass cost on to its consumers. He said the previous set only last 20,000 miles on his last truck.

Aside from moving the auxiliary switch panel up to where the sunroof controls are, I haven't really done much to my GX. Still haven't even put on the plastic trim pieces that go underneath the tail lights. Mods are still on pause but I am starting to get the itch again.

I should be wrapped up with my hours around Christmas time. I have a job offer for a regional, so this time next year I will officially be an airline pilot. Hopefully then the mods will follow. I really want some new wheels. The Miata also needs a supercharger. I also want to add a touring bike to the fleet. And a new shop.

But I think that the fiance is getting her new kitchen first, though.

Probably doing cheap tires because so few keep the stock tires and upgrade to bigger, and/or better tread per their personal use, or an entire rim/tire swap.
When I swapped out my rims and tires, I just left them at the shop that did the work.

Or in the world of passenger cars they put stupid "summer" tires on them that last a putridly small amount of miles. Literally all three of my Dodge Chargers ('14, '16, '18) all had summer tires and they lasted... 14k, 12k, 16k respectively. I HATE factory "summer" tires on new vehicles. Throw that garbage out.

So I drove the GX 550 yesterday... that was a mistake. Loved almost everything about it. Felt so much lighter, fast as hell (for what it is), and the tech and comfort are on a whole new level. Overtrail trim stickers just under $70k, which isn't unreasonable and comes with all the off-road goodies one could need.

It was better in every way compared to the GX 460, except I just like the way the N/A V8 drives more than the turbo six with the short first gear. Really makes me think.

No dealer markup?? OR a bunch of dealer extra do-dad add-ons that most people DON'T want??

They do like $500 of that add-on crap. But in the grand scheme of things compared to all of the dealers out there it could be worse. My step dad was buying a NX350h yesterday and I took the demo Premium trim out for a spin. The dealers up in MD were charging like $3k for the same BS add-ons and the sales tax is double up there versus NC. He drove home a happy camper. Those little bastards sell so quick. We found it as soon as it was listed and hopped off the truck.

It honestly made look at the LC250 some more. I'm curious if I'd like that power train more than the TTV6. Plus I like the interior ergonomic more with the physical controls instead of the touch screen.

Finally. The heat gun suggestion that @r2m made worked. Plastic weld to attach. Don't look great but they sure look better than a gaping hole in the bumper.

Also, I drove a LC250 today, a 1958 trim. I love the interior in the LC way more than the GX 550. Physical buttons are the way to go. Rode great. As far as the Hybrid T4 vs the TTV6, I have an opinion. Don't forget that opinions are like booty holes: everyone has one and they all stink. My hot take is that it genuinely doesn't matter. Both perform better than the 460's V8, but the V8 just drives nicer. The turbo just seems to kick you in the gut sometimes, I wish it built boost more smoothly in both cars. The Bronco's boost tuning is way smoother. As far as power goes, I feel that the old V8 makes enough power, but both of the new powertrains had more than enough power (if that makes sense). The GX has a bit more oomph with the slightly higher specs and two extra gears. If I had to pick one, I'd honestly choose the LC's turbo hybrid. They both sound like crap so that point is moot in my eyes. Still had more than enough power, the little electric motor smoothed out some of the turbo lag, and gets slightly better MPG to boot. When I got out of the GX 550 and back into my 460, I immediately welcomed back my old V8 friend. It just feels more natural, and definitely a lot smoother. I didn't have that feeling after getting out of the LC, but I still prefer the lazy V8 experience. That damn battery pack sure takes up a bunch of space, though. I thought that it was dumb that Toyota mounted that thing smack dab in the middle of the floor. I wish they moved it up towards the seats so there would just be one big storage compartment easily accessible from the rear, instead of two small ones.
