I'm running the components off of the headunit and I've got and Alpine 200x1 feeding the 8W3. I have an Alpine 40x4, but I don't see the need for it. The headunit has enough power.

What are the speakers rated at?

My HU is rated at 52x4 peak, but only 17x4 rms.

It plays great with the factory 20watt speakers, but I'm not sure if it will handle high end components without the help of an amp, so I'm kinda on the hunt for a quality set of speakers with high sensativity :hhmm:

They're rated for 70-140 W (6.5") and 50-110 W (5.25") but take those ratings with a grain of salt. I'm running them off of the headunit which is rated 25x4 rms and when turned up it's deafening. If I were to drive them with an amp I'd chose 75x4 and and turn down the gain to 50%. So about 35 W rms is more than any normal person will ever need.

I think an external amp would provide better sound, but it's pretty darn good as is and there's so much compromises with 2.25" of depth and in that location.
