Hi "waydownunder80", I am really wondering why they do not bring it to NZ, the FZJ71 has the same engine same trany same every thing but the length , some body has to press on the Official TOYOTA dealer to force them to bring it, since so many people are interested which means more mony for the dealer (I think this is the main interest for them is MONEY) if you guys go and show the dealer that you all are interested it will force them to bring it, I AM SURE.

You guys should show the dealer that this 71 series interest you, I think they will have to bring it to your country if you do that.

Maybe a TOYOTA fan club can do that with you.

Have a nice day

No chance I would think, the market is way to small.
Was discussing this with our local Toyota branch, and bull bars for the new V8s. There is a factory option available here for bull bars and side bars and steps. NZs allocation for these are 3 (yes read THREE) per month. In Oz Toyota have engaged engineering firms to make the bars and they are producing 400 bars per month. Toyota Australia want 800 bars per month. I don't think us LC Lovers here are going to influence Mr Toyota to much. Same as the fog lights on the V8s, Oz gets them plus 3 models to choose from. NZ gets 2 models, and fog lights are NOT an option on any of them. Aircon is only been available as standard in the V8s was only offered as an option which the dealers fitted in the 78/79 series. Nope fraid we are not going to get to much at all. At least we have had the 75s/78s/79s and now the V8s. Thank goodness for that!!

It costs between about 23000 US$ and 30000 US$ depending on the options, such as::cool: :)

1- Front and Rear Diff Locks
2- Automatic or Manual Wheel Hubs
3- Snorkel
4- Body options (Mud Guards, Aluminum Wheels, Axilary Tank-20litres, Extended Bumber, Grill Guard, Electric or Manual Whing, Chrome Package, Rear Wipers, ....etc)
5- Manual or Automatic Tranny
6- Bucket seats
7- ......etc

My 2002 FZJ74 FRP Top costs me 28000 US$

:D

MAN.

That's right in line with Wrangler Rubicon prices here in the States..... Maybe a little more expensive, but I'd pay the upcharge for a Toyota....

Are the axles leaf sprung or coil spring?

Now everytime I see a FJ Cruiser, I want to cry about what could have and
should have been offered to offroaders in the USA....lucky bastards!

LC LOVER , I live in Venezuela, the current 2007 fzj71 still have the old fascia but I was told that they were going to start selling the new version in a few months, I'm going to get one of those. Anyway, my question is, is the change only cosmetic? is the chassis, engine compartment, suspension, etc. still the same? what about the snorkels, do the old ones fit or is there a new design for the newer fzj71's?

If you have a picture of one of the new fzj71 with a snorkel I would greatly appreciate it.

2007 Fzj71

Actually the body panels of the new 2007 from the rear bumber until the Windshield is exactly the same even the interior, but the front fender is deffirent along with the hood and front bumber.

The new 2007 is as many guys including Mr. TOYOTA says that it is wider, I also noticed that it is a little bit wider, also the guys in Australia says the suspention is deffirent along with the bigger sway bar.

The 4500EFI is still unchanged and the Tranny also.

As for the snorkel I think because the fender shape are deffirent, the old snorkel will not fit, maybe. But I think due to the new design of the fender it must be changed.

I will post a photo soon for the new FZJ71 with a Snorkel.

Have a nice day you all.

The FZJ71 photo with snorkel

Hi JAC83, The photo is on page 2 of this review but it is very small, and the one I am posting here is not very clear but the snorkel looks deffirent than the 2006 70 series.

I also posted the 2006 FZJ78 with snorkel so you can compare them.

I will try to ask the TOYOTA dealer about the Axle width, Track width, Chassis and suspention of the 2007 70 series that comes with the 4500EFI inline 6 and wether it will differ from the 2006 just to make sure and I will let you know.

Have a nice day;)

The FZJ71 sales in the region of the middle east

Hi Happy Trails, I think you are correct about being lucky we have the 70 series in our region the Middle East, but I think there is a REASON for that.

The sales of these 70 series are very high specially in Saudi Arabia, Oman, Yemen. Also in Kuwait, United Arab Emarets and Qatar, sales are high.

Also the 70 series are very very popular in Africa, Australia, New zeland, South America and Europe

In the USA many people always are looking for more and more comfort until they forced companies to get rid of the True Off Road trucks. Also when I read magazines such as FOUR WHEELER, 4Wheel & Off-Road and Truck Trend, most of the trucks they mention can not even live in our Desert for one day of real use, and they very hardly since the early ninties when I started reading these magazines that they mention anything about the Mighty 70 seies, Why I do not know. The only thing they mention some times is the 40 series without informing the readers that the 70 series continued the 40 series success and still they are every were around the world better and stronger than ever before.

I think you guys in the USA are the one to blame when you incoreged the companies to go softer and softer with each new model.

Also a part of whats happining is that I think if the 70 series were introduced directly after the 40 series in the USA they could have effected badly the sales of the American Auto Companies.

I remember that the 1985 Hilux was the last Hilux that came with Rigid front and Rear Axle in the USA, correct me if I am wrong. While we had the Hilux with RIGID AXLES up until the Mid ninties. Thank god the Wrangler is still Rigid (Front & Rear), by the way I used to study in the USA (Eugene, Oregon) and the people there were so freindly and kind and I had many friends and still do.

Any way I think the 70 series is still Live and well with REAL RIGID AXLES and going strong due to the fact that many people around the world still look for Real 4WD vehicles.

Thanks for reading my thread and have a nice day all ;)

Thanks a lot man, I really appreciate the effort.

One question, I've noticed that many of the 70 series you show in the pictures are all stock, do people over there not mod them? with items such as bullbars, tires, roof rack, etc.

Mostly Stock

Hi JAC83 and you are welcome anytime if you have any question and I love Venezuella and I think it is a very beutiful contry from the pictures I saw every were.

Most modifications are done by people who race in the dunes but Bull Bars are not used since they are very heavy, instead they take of the original bumber and some times all doors to make the FZJ71 very light. The engine is what mostly modified by headers system, Nitros, KN Filters among other things.

On my FJ62 I have all the modification you can think of with the original engine not being touched (Stock), I like it that way because it will last longer. Also my FZJ74 is know modified with OME suspention, Snorkel, Tow Bar and more.

So most people about 70% do not modify their LCs, only I think 30% do. But more and more people are starting to modifing.

Do you know that I was the first one who instaled an ARB Bull Bar, OME suspention and IPF Lights and many other things such as an ARB locker on my FJ62 back in 1998 when there were no dealer anywere in the area. I ordered everything by my own from the USA.

Here are some Pics of my friend 2006 FZJ79 which it is fairly modified and know he added more things such as a snorkel and many other things, and thats my 2002 RED FZJ74 I also had an 2000 FZJ79, and the Wrangler I sold last year was well Modified as you can see in the picture. I will post a New Thread with many photos of my Trucks.

I think The LANDCRUISER 70 Series are good enough to be used stock, they are strong and capable without modification.

And as TOYOTA says in the TV add in Australia about the 2007 70 Series "NEWER NOT SOFTER", I think many trucks are "NEWER & SOFTER". There is nothing like the 70 series, nothing.

Have a nice day JAC83.

LC LOVER, thanks for the fantastic photos, how ever painful it is for me to look at them! I agree with your observations regarding Toyota in the USA. I still
think Toyota is missing a great opportunity here in the States...Jeep hasn't
abandoned their following with the Wrangler and I see them EVERYWHERE. Sure would like to be able to have a choice besides the strange looking IMHO
FJ Cruiser. Mint 40's are getting VERY expensive and not any younger. Glad you enjoyed your time up in Oregon. I have spent a lot of summers up there
being that my Grandparents lived near Salem, OR. Keep thos pics coming!
All the best-Jeff

I see, I guess we follow different modification philosophies due to the different uses we give to our vehicles in our countries.

Here we are more "expedition oriented", our vehicles are geared to be used in harsh conditions that include lots of mud, water crossings, narrow trails full of trees and other vegetation and that also usually involves camping. I'm thankful that I live ina country with so many different places and eviroments to visit, specially for off-roading.

Thanks for the extra pics man.

You wellcome guys any time, and please visit soon I will post more Pics

Hi Happy Trails & JAC83 and wellcome any time if you have any thing you need to know or to get I will be more than happy to help you.

I remmember Oregon very well, specially Eugene (were I went to school and lived), Springfield (were I have some good friend), Newport with its beaches and sand dunes, and the wonderful Marina were the fishermen comes every day and clean the fish and the seals eating what the fisher men throws. I also love the Mountains near the ocean were if you are lucky you can spot the wales and the seals from the fantastic view.

Please visit soon I will post some photos either on this thread or in a new thread.

We also go camping alote and we carry alote of gear with us and we go to many nice places in the desert and also we go on long trips some times for more than 2800 Kilo Meters to great places and nice camping trips. I will post some of the Pics I have so you can see what I mean.

Please do not hesitate to ask any thing you would like to know about or need.

Thanks guys for you comments and have a very nice day, take care :)
