Imogene Pass Colorado

Looks great John,
I'm heading to Ouray later this month. Was black bear open when you went, i've heard it's gnarly? I was looking though your pics and I could'nt tell if you came all the way down switchbacks...
I'm planning on hitting Yankee Boy, Imogene, Engineer and Ophir
Mountain biked over Imogene about 20-years ago...neat area (at least two decades ago!).
I didn't know you were that old.![]()
Hey...watch it...I started early!
I did a very cool and scenic mountain bike self-contained ride a number of years ago: Started in Lake City...up and over Engineer's Pass (13,300')...down to Ouray...then up to Silverton...then up and over Cinnamon Pass (12,800' ?) back down to Lake City. It is a 4x4 route...I'd love to go back some day and do it in the LC. Have you been on this route?

What in the world was up with this 150? Did he stall, run out of gas, or simply did not manage the hairpin turn and did a 180 going down?
Apart from that, VERY cool pictures from a BEAUTIFUL area (and a nice collection on smugmug). Here in the PNW, there are few (if any) places where you actually easiliy get above the tree line, less even close to 10,000 feet and above.
Reminds me a lot of Norway where you can get this at about 3,000 feet and above.

He botched the turn and went too wide when approaching the turn. Having no traction device he got stuck. Good thing there was snowpack there. He was at the road's edge with a long way down.
