I am still trying to coax my oldest back out after the last ride, she is still terrified. When she was two she cried at grey rock because I took the bypass around box of possums instead of "driving over the big rocks." a year later she didn't make it 15 minutes at stoney lonesome. I will try some more convincing, I think if my wife goes she will go too - this weekend is probably no good, I will check on the other.

Yeah; I'm hoping to avoid an incident like that... I learned from that day and I will probably be trying to take it easy at first. I know that the trip before we went right up those rocks with no issue so who would have known that it would take some effort to get up them but I think if we had easied into the more difficult stuff it would have gone better.

I also noticed how high they sit in those car seats i think that might have alot to do with the fear. I am thinking about straping mine into the middle seat although that might cause other issues.

We could do some forest roads but I'm thinking they might get bored with that.

By the way if anyone is tempted to go but worried about not having armor, it is my experience that there are ways around most of the obstacles. If you wanted to play it safe the chances are pretty slim that you would incur any damage.

Matt, correct me if I'm wrong.

Sounds like a good time

I think my wife will be working Sat. so me and the boys will prolly be looking for something to do. I wish I could try out those new sliders, but there will be another day to bang on them. Probably need to take it easy till I get a feel for the trails anyway.

*Did I just invite myself to somebody else's party?*

It's your party too - sliders could have been ready had I not caught the same bug that the kids had last night. If I can get back on them tonight I might can get them usable if you've got any free time at night b/t now and then.

Looks like Saturday is the day... Anyone have a preference on meeting time and place?

Slight change in plans.....
Due to the weather both Friday and Saturday and the fact we are wanting to keep the wheeling ultra light; I think that we are going to explore some of the Talladega National forest instead. Matt and I will be working on some of the details today and tomorrow, but tentatively we are going to head to Sylacauga and head east into the forest from there.

I sometimes bring terryjmatthew, he sits high in his booster seat too. I think that's what scares him. his mother and i never pay any attention to his screaming.

Isn't that duct tape use # 37? Not that I would ever do that to my kid but I have been tempted by others.

It looks Matt has a pretty good route started... We are looking at heading into the forest from Sylacauga in the morning and making it to Cheaha by lunch. From there we will play it by ear..

WOW! A rover friend went last weekend and some of his pics were WET and some had huge ruts... I'd hate to see them trails now after 3 days of rain!
make sure ya'll both got good winches before you head in.

Just one and its an 8k.... we have pulleys, highlifts and shovels though... After reading the trip report from the couple who did the congo in an unlocked rig and no winch I kinda feel like a panzy for thinking I need one.
