Might want to try Stony Lonesome. There is a ride at Gray Rock that weekend and a Toyota Event at Hale Mountain.

Grab a forest map (they are much better now) and get lost..
If you wait a week I might join you

You can camp pretty much anywhere in the forest "don't block a road or camp in an obvious game plot" Recreation Ranger
If you pm me I'll show you my secret spot. No water nearby though.

I'll pm you when I get on a computer. I'll also want to go the next weekend.

I havnt been using my camping gear nearly enough.

I would love to find some OHV in/around the sipsey wilderness.

Yeah not going to happen. I have heard that little River has some places to get lost but I also heard it's all closed.

I don't think OHV and wilderness really go together these days:frown:

Yea but horses and cycles (both of which cause more trail erosion than OHV) are fine and dandy....

From my BSA days I remember crossing roads when we hiked the sipsey. I just don't know what the legal uses of them are.

I started with a map from expo portal and ended with this. I am tying to find out if I can just pull off into a spot and pitch a tent for the night...

what do yall think about this? map link

I don't think I would camp on a cross road out there.
If you come back a bit you will see a wide spot with an unusual marked road heading east.
I'm not saying head down that road but you might find a spot to park around there.

Report!? Where did you camp?

My "here I am" didn't work so I dont know exactly where we camped.

Can someone pull the location off my tomtom?

We were on 600-2 and then 637-u; the gate to that road was open but I'm not sure how much it stays open... 600-2 showed up as skyline drive on the gps. We passed several open gates that looked like they could be fun. I need to buy a mvum.

Pics to come.

had to get a new camera cord.

I think someone broke into the house and took every cord that wasnt plugged into something at the time.

It is nothing challenging/technical. I would take the accord down most of it. And kaits rodeo could do the whole thing easily in 2wd.

But it is a fun, relaxing, an scenic trip. I would do it again tomorrow.

It would be a great place to go for group camping. We have several sites saved on my Tom Tom.

Looks like a blast!

I got lost @ greyrock for about 45minutes and that was worth it!

I just got off the phone with the shoal creek ranger district clerk, she was really nice and said she thinks the lake I am looking at is called "sweet water lake" and that camping is completely allowed on that lake all year, she didnt have the road as 503B which is what google calls it, but I gave her some landmarks and she said she is confident what google has as lake #7 on choccolocco creek, is sweet water lake.

I am talking to a guy about building a trailer and hopefully Ill have one this time next month. I know its going to be hot by then but I would really like to do this run one weekend, https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Tus...0fb941512d!2m2!1d-85.5863687!2d33.7495802!3e0

maybe drive straight to "503b" friday night then drive out/back to town, on saturday; if I find a good spot stay, saturday night as well.
