has any body had a problem with bending the brackets on the axle doing this?

attachment.php

this refering to offroad ONLY

thanks

I tryed this mod by accident. Bolt fell out? It caused wicked axle wrap during braking, even at low speeds. There is no way I would do it deliberate. But that's just my opinionated opinion. Jay

Why pull the pin in the firt place???

This is basically a poor mans 3 link. It does increase flex...with my swaybars on, I noticed a difference of around 5" of flex just buy pulling that pin. At that point it maxxed out my front shock. With the sway bars off, I notice only around 2" difference of flex before the shock maxxes out.

The main issue I would see on the trail is how hard is this gonna be on those opposite brackets? And that when the arm rotates down, this will cause less clearance under the axle. I think you could see a chunk more flex with a longer shock. That is the last thing to try with my RTI/testing stuff....take off my shock and see how much further droop is attainable. There isn't going to be a TON more available because the spring is going to unseat and flop around...

Tools R Us has a thread called "my new control arms" if you search, he has basically done this (but much better!!!) by eliminating the front mount on his new arms. he still has his sway bars as far as I know.

I would run without that pin and without swaybars. That felt a bit too squishy for my tastes on road.

Here are my testing pics with the front swaybar on, 4" lift:

Here is the same, just the front bolt removed: shock maxxed out...

I don't see how you got axle wrap? That was one of my first concerns, did a bunch of testing, climbing steep hills with big steps hard on the throttle and couldn't cause axle wrap? Even with my narrowed bushings?

At this point I run both sway bars. Looking at making front disconnects, but I'm happy with the performance as is, for now.:hillbilly:
