It definitely seems unlikely that the starter would fail, particularly a new one. Probably over conservative here.
Yep. But I hope you do it in any case and document it for the rest of us :-)

Minty fresh starter in the house. All sealed up by my 'local' Florida Lexus dealer. On the shelf for when it's warmer.

Have fun with the install. I did mine without removing the manifold and it was a real PIA for me. It was well worth doing for the peace of mind for sure though. :)

Another PNW sledding adventure. Tried out the table add on, very convenient. Brought the 5lb propane and griddle for the old standards , tortillas and hotdogs.

not the best sled hill, but it seems kids don’t really care.

saw a total of three other rigs, a jl, a tourareg, and a right drive 70 series diesel. Jl turned around where we were. Other two went on up but came back pretty quick, the Touareg reversing.

Old hotness and new hotness.

Sacrifices must be made in the pursuit of sub tanks.

Finally got a good leg solution for my fold down table. It’s a fancy paint roller extension. Quick release fitting to hold one end, and a Velcro strap for the other. Holes ever six inches with positive lock, and easy to drill a new one at the correct height.
I just need a better way to hold the table closed and this project will be done.
Amazon product ASIN B000CSWWE2
thought I took a pic but can’t find it. Will update with the goods later.

All the initial factory sub tank shipments are in. Deep in the planning Phase for the evap relocation. Made the mistake of getting keyed up for this and then having a cold front roll in and drop a tiny bit of snow.

Took advantage of the st paddy’s day sale at Ironman to get an ensuite awning. lots of ladies in my traveling party, so this seems the ticket.
It’s back ordered but I hope to receive sometime in April

thinking about building a @radman special shower

I’m usually able to avoid being marketed to, but when a similar product got a strong reckie from Ronny Dahl and AStPW I put it on my sometime at the right price list. I’m basically now an honorary Austral South African ian.
and my birthday is coming up too, but I guess that is always true.

if it ever arrives I‘ll file a trip report

I just crossed $15k on the build. Is that excessive? I mean, I don’t even have a front bumper or winch!
or a rtt?
and only one drawer!

By my math you're nowhere near $15k.

You can't count consumables when doing your build. So bigger tires don't count. Ditto for upgrading brakes and shocks (though I know you have an LX, not a lifted LC).

Anything you can easily move to another vehicle is only a partial cost. So if you spend $2k on a drawer setup or $1k on a fridge, but it's mostly swappable into a future LX/300 then you should only count half the cost. Or if you just moved it over from another prior build, even if you followed this logic previously this time it's $0 cost since you already had it lying around ;-)

Finally be sure to subtract any expenses you would've otherwise had. Bought a winch? Well if you used it to get yourself out of a jam when you were wheeling alone then you just saved the cost of a very expensive tow so it's already paid for itself and thus you can't count it. Bought a front bumper and then hit a deer? You just made money on the damage avoided!

As my LC is my company car, I need you to talk to my office manager. She once printed out the expense report on my truck after I told her that there was no way I spent close to $20k on my truck. The report had tires and absolutely every consumable coded to my asset number. :p :nailbiting:

Well, for company accounting those probably count. But for explaining to your wife why there are all these truck-related charges on your credit card, they totally don't.

Finger hovering over buy on cart with 5 gal pressure tank and fittings for a shower setup. $200. Can’t decide if I want this now or want to put together a water solution under the sub tank and get this now. Maybe the water tank will make it redundant? Not stoked about 80 lb on the roof.

Ive been thinking about a water tank in the spare location as well. Any ideas on sourcing a suitable container?
