I'm glad to see the use of spray foam, that stuff is super easy to use and does a great job. My parents just built a house and they also did interior walls to keep the sound down (washer/dryer room, bathrooms, etc.). Looking good!

First Christmas and this Christmas, amazing How much it's changed in 2 years. Picture is taken from almost the same place.

Well they finished up the insulation and passed inspection the first of last week so they delivered sheetrock on Wednesday and I think they started hanging yesterday. They showed up today while we were out there working on some drainage stuff. They pretty well wrapped up the downstairs and were starting on the garage when we rolled out today. We ran shovels most of the day cleaning around the foundation, installing some drainage pipe along the footers and backfilling with gravel. Fighting water under the house is getting old and I'm guessing we will end up with a sump under there eventually, but we are trying to get all the outside squared away before we get into that.

We also took delivery of our locally cut solid cedar porch posts this morning as well. Total of 14.

The weather is kicking our ass and sucks for the stuff we need to be doing, but we are doing what we can and Erin is accomodating my complaining about having to spend the weekends working again this winter....

Anyway, here are a few pics I grabbed today.

And a big stack of timbers.

They'll probably finish up hanging the first of next week, then on to tape and mud.

Went out today after church to see how our drainage work faired. Looked ok, no water standing around back so I hope it is doing what we hoped it would.

Still got a good bit of work to call it done, but it's a start. We also checked out the hangers progress after we left. They got the whole garage hung after we left around 2ish yesterday. Pretty dang impressed.

I put the girls in for scale.

At this rate, guessing they will finish hanging by Tuesday and then finishing after that.

Man that is looking great. Excited for you guys

Drove through your neck of the woods again today Matt but didn't have time to stop by and see the progress. How much longer do you guys like until move in day?

looking good.....I would certainly deal with the water drainage....whatever it took to get the water to run away from the house.

Thanks guys. @htburnett anytime you are close, feel free to stop by whether I happen to be there or not.

As far as timing, we are looking at March I think. Maybe a little sooner, but there are some big tickets that will govern timing. The septic field and water line didn't go in before the winter and now the ground is staying soggy so getting equipment in to take care of that is going to likely be the thing that will dictate the actual CO, and that SUCKS because we are in the in the worst part of the year to be digging a hole or running a piece or equipment around on wet ground. Time will tell and if the ground were to freeze solid, that would work too, so I hoping for either a crazy cold week to freeze things solid or some warm and dry days over the next few weeks....

Drainage is going to important all over the place. The rock is very shallow and it is pretty flat out there so what little dirt I have gets saturated quick and then it just sits, so I will be doing a lot of ditch digging and putting in a several feet of trench drains to help keep the water where it needs to be and away from the house and barn.

Good times.

They got the ditch in for the underground electric, And have mudded the downstairs and all the board is hung upstairs. Guessing there won't be much going on tomorrow since its gonna be below freezing for the next 2 days, but they might get the electric in and ready for inspection.

The guy who dug the ditch also pushed a little dirt around up front and Erin graded it down this afternoon while I was prepping for my sump install.

Here is the only picture I grabbed today.

Man that is looking good. Love that front porch. Can't wait to get my 60 running and make a trip down there and see it in person.

Today was a good day/ bad day for me at the farm. Good news is the rest of the house is mudded and it is looking very good. Bad news is that it is super cold and the mud isn't drying out, but wait Murphy didn't stop there. So I went to northern tool and bought a big 70,000 btu kerosene burning radiant heater to help get some heat in there to 1. Help cure out the mud 2. Warm it the hell up so we can stand to be out there

So I full it up, plug it in and.... Nothing. Fiddle with it and still nothing. So I call the 800 number and the guy says "oh sounds like the pump needs replacing" WTF are you talking about, it's brand Effin' new. Why are you sending me parts. I called Northern and they said they would take it back.

So my options are wait til the first of next week for the parts to fix my brand new heater, or drain the $20 worth of kerosene out of it and take it back to northern... Option 2 sounds better except that I probably won't be back out there with time to fool with it before saturday which is when I wanted to use it... So I have no idea what I am going to do.

Anyway, here are a fews pictures of the upstairs while I am sorting things out with Murphy.

Edit: apparently Murphy and I are still having some issues so for now just the one...

Hunter, I am impressed. I thought your interest would be focused on the beer frig and how well it will be stocked.

Larry, the room isn't finished, he will be placing that beer fridge in the corner for Hunter, lol

Sweet, I'll tell Erin we're getting a kegerator!

To be fair, we did talk about a wet bar for up stairs :D

I picked up a 10' stick of pipe, glue and a bunch of fittings today. I got my propane for the buddy heater, chest waders, mini pick axe, shovel, pump and check valve, so I should be all set for a fun saturday under the house... Oh, did I mention the high on Saturday is supposed to be 35° and my big shiny new heater is broken, should be a good day.

And just for the sake of it here is the little zoeller pump that will be living under the house. This little thing is a hoss, solid cast iron construction, should take care of any water under the house.

Well they got the porch posts up and finished the siding on the back. I grabbed this pic last night on my way to the apartment.

Lookin good, Matthew!

Thanks Joel.

I talked to our builder on Monday and the story I got from him is one of those truth is stranger than fiction deals. Short version is he went to the doctor two weeks ago tomorrow with a blister on his foot and last Thursday they took one of his legs above the knee. Yeah, you read that right he had his leg amputated last Thursday. He is in good spirits and seems ready to get on with things.

Anyway, Saturday I will be digging a muddy hole under the house to install my sump. Then next week I hope they will be sealing up the crawl space. I hope to get my heater up and going this weekend to really put a good heat treatment in there and then maybe they can finish the sheetrock work.

Things are going, just moving slow right now.
