That rig is still the standard many of us would like to attain...just magnificent.

The beginning of a new era for that rig and it still carries all of the provenace (ok, I watched Antique Roadshow once) for the new owner. Is that rig coming any further west?....would love to see it up close

I probebly would have kept it and stored it in a dark cool place in the event of a real castrophe. Thinks like floods, fuel shortages and road damage would have made me keep the truck. I would want to paint my cruiser another color but dont want to make it look to dated. Seventeen years is a very long time to own a vehicle but what made you want to sell it? Wanted to simplify your life and not travel as much?

No way I could have done that...

I agree with you mace...

I can't beleive believe that you sold her... I din't followed to many threads of her but I do followed some threads and buildup's and I remember that in every thread I read about her some member said "this is my inspiration rig" many times...

honestly I don't know how you did that I imagine it most been really hard, I've had my 60 since new my dad bought her back in 1982 here in Venezuela and it has taken us to many family trips and it has been on many similiar situations except the many countries and states you visited. it drive me and my brother when we was born and it's been the car of my dreams since I was a kid, now 25 years later I own her and it's my firts car and my passion.

I guess your are really depress and you had a cause to sold her even if you din't want to. but well sometimes we have to get rid of some things we are atached... And after all they're just material things and all that matters is the moments and experiences we had..

Sorry for the long sentimental post, it's just that I love the cruiser feeling and what it represent to some of us.

 and good to know that the princess is in good hands!!!!

Sorry to hear the news. Must be something big to sell the cruiser. Hope everything works out for you. Take care.

Man, I love that truck.... trully an inspiration and aspiration of desire.... glad to hear you've sold it to one of the brethren.

David, you are one fortunate hombre to be sure ;)

for those wanting to know why Henry sold her, do a search. there is a FS post which answers this.

Henry, sorry to see that you couldn't keep the truck. But life is about changes. I have sold two Landcruisers my old 40 after more than a dozen years, and more recently my 60 - after tones of work and cash to get it just right.

You have to get right back on the horse -- how about an 80 or FJC for a daily driver, and ocassional forays into the bush?

Well I can help with withdrawal during the week of June 20. After a couple hours with PismoJim the light blue might even look a little green. :) Bob

Thnx, people, I appreciate the nice comments!

I have a '99 100 in stock form that I am driving now. There's stuff going on in the job/personal front that needs to be managed, so I'm not 100% sure whether I'll buy another rig or modify the 100. For the time being, I'm just going to stay put and see where things fall.

It was a tough decision but the right one. It would not have been fair to such a loyal companion to spend the rest of its life deteriorating outside my house, barely used. She deserved better than that, and she got it, even if it meant going to someone else.

Cheers!! :beer::beer::beer:

Wow, I read this thread and still cant believe it :frown:

When I sold Cecil, my first Land Cruiser, and a machine that was with me through a lot of life changing events, I had to convince myself that it was JUST a truck. JUST a truck.

I dont think my heart ever excepted that ;)

i am in the process of selling my 1st car a 1973 triumph spitfire...i had owned it since 1985...bought it with my mail rout $$$...it deteriated very fast..and now i'm not going to get anything for it...its probably best for parts.

I can totally see were Henry is coming from...if your not going to use it...sell it...as heart breaking as it is.

I used that rig as a benchmark for what I wanted mine to be when it was all said and done. I hope someone is tucking that thing in at night.

My dear friend Henry ..

David
