I went and looked at that 40 today. It was 20 min. from my house so what the heck. Nice guy. His wife wanted him to downsize and get a wheeler the family could go in as well. He did have other 40's . It was all there. Get in and go (except shocks). He was second owner. Def a good 40 for a wheeler. He said the truck was built years ago by someone local. He hasn't had any problems. Seemed like he owned it for awhile.
-Practically new 37" BFG Krawler blues with beadlock alum. wheels.
-2f with new head (done at local shop for $1700), troll hole carb, header, and new exhaust. Was leaking a little oil on the floor. Motor had a little bit of a noisy lower end. Sounded quiet for a 2f though. All Emissions was still intact
-SM465 trans(edit for correct number) 4 spd. with granny first gear
-F and R ARB air lockers
-Stock diff gears
-Cut and turned front axle. Trussed front and rear axles
-Londfield axle installed on pass side. Driv side included. Not installed.
-SOA with a block front and rear. OEM flattened springs. Rear had some crazy shackle mount that flexs I have never seen.
-FJ60 power steering conversion
-High steer
-Rear disc brake conversion.
-Winch not included
-Had a fuel cell mounted behind rear seat. Gauge didnt work
-Had rust on the hood, and rear floor. Rust here and there. Fenders where still pretty solid. D and P floorboards where pretty solid
-Frame looked to be solid and rust free for new england.
-Hard top was beat. No glass on one rear 1/4 window
-Pass. rocker panel was bent up full length
-Had no shocks. Def needed hoops for a longer shock. He wasn't street driving it. Just local trails behind his home. So he didn't use shocks because they hinder on droop
-Front shackles where beat
-Had a "different" tire carrier that was tube welded to the rear gate that the tire attached to.
Price was $5500. What do you guys think about that price? I really just wanted the wheels and tires. I made an offer on them but he didn't for it. He wants to sell the whole truck. It was hard to walk away. I really like the 40. I might go back...hmmm
