Scored an interview with my favorite local nuclear utility. I've been planning this for the last 10 years and now its coming to fruition. Funny thing is, this is cruiser related. Turns out Tedd at Cruiser Solutions has a client who works at the plant. Tedd mentioned that he knew a retiring Navy nuke and one thing led to another. Interview is next week. :D

hey guys,
I just purchased a 74 fj40 and I am having carb problems, It's got a weber and when it warms up and I hit the gas it falls on it's face, almost backfiring out the filter,

Any help would be appreciated,

Tom

Very nice Lane!!

Went to replace the exhaust manifold gasket last night. Didn't get far. Realized the header is warped. Also saw that there are different size bolts keeping the header on. Now what are the odds that the thread count is correct on those bolts? A giant can of worms staring me in the face. Looks like new headers and some re-threading coming this winter.

In the meantime I'll just keep huffing exhaust fumes and hope my kid doesn't get too sleepy on trips.

Just rip that thing off, and throw it away. There is a chance that the bolt threads are the same size, it sounds like it was a mix n match type deal the guy may have used different suppliers (coffee cans) to get the job done. After you take it off, put a stock manifolds on there header isnt worth it IMOP. You wont have to worry about leaks/warpage with a manifold.

Had to make sure she was in there! We enjoyed her on the trip, great kid!

John, Jr has a parts supplier that can get ramshorns stupid cheap, like $50 a side or something. That is probably the best call. He is using them on his new motor.

If you want headers, I just sold wally a motor with brand new blockhugger cheap POS shorty headers I am not sure if he is using.
