You got 4.11's or 4.56's yet? That would be on my short list for sure.

I'd like to go to 4.56 Or Maybe A Tad lower, but I'm saving to do lockers, gears and rebuild all at once.

I had the turbo laying around and just figured why not.

got the up pipe wrapped and put a blanket around the turbine Housing to help promote boost response. I Had to rebuild the turbo and put new oil seals in because SOMEONE forgot to remove the drain plug before running the truck. Works great and is now smoke free now. Just fine tuning the jetting on the webber 38.

Updates.. lol I killed a few turbos, long story short my oil supply line had become kinked and cut of my oil to the turbo... She's back in action again, I have changed the orientation of the turbo setup to a blow thru as well. Pictures to come

Here's a video post oiling issue fixed running on low boost

It's about as fast as a cement truck now lol with the 5.29s ha ha ha, but at least is sounds bad ass, and the looks you get from diesel guys is hilarious

Ok back tracking a little...
I finally got some gears, and lockers, money is tight just coming off my racing season with NASA Time Trials, so I opted to go a little cheaper than I wanted on lockers and gears but have had no issue yet... finished up third for season points as a rookie so I'm pretty stoked about that, in case you are wondering I drive a TT2 classed, Mitsubishi Ralliart.

Anyway, so the gears I went with are 5.29s and spartan lockers I wanted to use Aussies but I have been happy thus far with my experience with the spartans

Btw, save the heart-ache and buy the install kits I wasted a bunch of time trying to first remove the pinion bearings, then trying to find just the pinion bearings.... Not worth it.
So yet again the guys at cruiser outfitters hooked it up with some install kits.

In case your wondering what to do with the old ring and pinion.... I made a lamp ha ha ha

With the 5.29 gears (I think 4.56 and up) you have to grind the ring gear to clear the carrier pin when installing the c-clips

Don't mind the excessive paint lol I cleaned it up and did some final checking and adjusting.

The installed locker

And new seals

Replaced the front seals with upgraded ones from the boys at cruiser outfitters as well. This is a cheap insurance policy for the birfields any time you open up the front. My driver seal had been leaking slowly enough it just looked like a seep from hot grease, but upon disassembly I found that the entire birfield had been washed clear of any grease which is bad news.

Got everything reinstalled and she rolls smooth and quiet down the road. Locker behaves very well I've had experience with driving lunch box lockers in the past, the Spartans aren't too bad, Aussies I think are a bit nicer, and the lock rights I had were by far the worst.

I took the opportunity while I had it up in the air to do the 2lo mod

I'm may build a twin stick kit... Or just buy one... I like the idea of building my own.
I am also working on removing the years and years of grease and build up... Ahhh if only I still had access to my heated power washer.

I got tired of smelling the oil vapor and crank case gasses filling the hood space and blowing into the cab so I fabed up a catch can to keep oil that may blow out the crank case vent and valve cover from going into the turbo compressor and carb when that boost hits.

While on the lift I noticed that the front driveshaft wanted to bind up so I did some minor clearancing with a burr bit on the end of a die grinder.

The crazy amounts of crud have been removed since the photo lol so much nastiness.
Don't judge me..

You had to grind the ring gear down to be able to get the pin out? That doesn't sound like a good idea.

Wow I have been setting up gears for years not on a 60 or 62 I have never seen or heard of this. Thanks for posting links. So a ff would solve the problem because no c clips still would be hard to locate one in the states without going with an 80 rear then that's a lot of work also.

I think there's a few FF kits out there.. haven't done much research into it though..

Got some good pulls in today to do some carb tuning.
Webber 38 dgas
Currently
60 idle
180 air
160 mains

I ordered 175 air correction jets
And will be dropping the idles down to 150-155 depending on mixture and air fuel feedback may go smaller on mains as well but for now it's safe and rich under boost
