As I continue my baselining, I'm looking to add 10mm OEM spacers to the front and throw some new shoes on my
2 hundy. I've decided to stay at the 285/60/18 format since I've been using my 200 as a daily and on the highways. I've read a few good raves on here about the Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 and I'm looking to install those. However, while discussing the Yokohama's with my Discount Tire rep whom I have had a great rapport with for the past 5 years. He brought up the Terra Grappler G2 by Nitto. I don't know anything about the Terra Grapplers except that the original Terra didn't get alot of love on 4Runner, Taco, & Tundra forms. I have Nitto Ridge Grapplers on my LX470 and have no complaints about their performance. My DT rep told me he would run the G2 Terra's over the Geolander, and that the G2 is a major improvement over the original Terra, to the point that Nitto is even slapping a 65,000 mile warranty on them to stand by the improvement. Ultimately it's my choice on which tire I want, and I'm getting whichever set I go with for a steal. I'm just curious if any of you who have ran either of these tires, could give me your personal input on them.

I don’t have experience with the G2 but I would go Yokohama personally. The geolandar 015 and 056 are both great tires.

I ran the Toyo AT2's on the 200 and our G63 - great all around tire and for some reason the 305s' run very wide..... also one of the few speed rated over 110. with a decent tread and they wear well IMHO... the G2's I ran on my sc'ed 100 I liked but they lacked the offroad chops of the AT2's and a bit more tread depth...

I ran the G2's on a previous 5th Gen 4Runner and they were one of the worst tires I've ever purchased. Horrible in the rain if not down right dangerous and they didn't hold up well to light off-road use either, they incurred sidewall punctures and multiple flats in the tread. They were removed in under 4,000 miles. Needless to say, I can 120% recommend that no one ever buy those tires. I have no experience with the Yokohamas so I can't comment there.

I have the Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015s on one of my 200s and have been very happy. So happy I put the LT version on my 80. Oh wait the 80 is now with @Skipics4237 my son at college in Bozeman. So technically it is his truck though I haven't fully accepted that.

So I felt strongly enough to send my kid to college in my favorite land cruiser in them. Great tires from my experience.

Thank's for the reply. Are the Geolandar A/T GO15's a daily driver tire?

Thanks for sharing your experience on the G2's. After reading that, I'll hard pass on them.

On the 200 they are daily drivers. We have driven cross country with them and do some basic off roading with them. They have some basic trails and unplowed roads in the winter. When it gets too far into winter I do put on studded snows. But I don’t say that too loudly here as some will say I am a hearhen for that 😁

the GO15s are great daily drivers. I just drove my son from Maine to Montana with the LT version on the 80 and they were flawless

I'm on my third set of Terra Grapplers and don't have many complaints. I've had one sidewall puncture that was on a sharktooth-shaped rock that I think would have torn through most tires. While I think they're a solid baseline, I'm looking for other tires that may be better all around.

I'll echo the TG's not holding up well - but I had the initial versions on the 100 - they didn't balance well and sidewall felt soft at speed with a bit of armour...

Yoko G015 is one of the best tire! I would get that in a heartbeat over (any) Nitto tire.
I appreciate your reply. I'm definitely going with the G015 over the Nitto. Let me ask this. If I wanted to to step into a 275/70/18, will I have any rubbing issues at stock height until I install the OEM front spacers? Or should I just stick with 285/65/18's?

you should be good on the larger OD - I ran 305's while waiting for the Tundra/ Icon setup to arrive (33.5" or so ) and they cleared...

Wife has stock G2 on her 4runner, it has survived lots of rocks, but I think it's due to the the car being much lighter, it drives fine and very quiet, so so in snow.

I had G015 (non LT) before on my previous car, not as quiet as the G2, but it was amazing in the snow, it wore very well after 90k km in 18 months.

Right now I'm on Yoko X-AT, these tires are taking a beating and still perform amazingly.

And the winner is... the Yokohama Geolandar G015 A/T 275/70/18r. $1,027.00 out the door w/ a the certified warranty. I was way more impressed with the tire after seeing it in person. I was about to go with the Cooper AT2, but stuck with my guns and got the Yoko's. Major improvement in the ride compared to the Hankook DynaPro's that were originally on there.
Now I have to decide if I want to go thru with installing the OEM front spacers to level her out, or leave as is. She looks pretty good as is, and I have no issues with rubbing. Just trying to figure out if spending the coin on the spacers will be worth it, or if I should just be patient and order a Ironman 1.5 inch suspension kit. What's your guy's opinions?

What is the LOAD RANGE on that? Looks great!!

Two things:

1. How is the road noise on highway?

2. After a while, can you report your fuel economy?

Thanks.

I've run the Yokohama G015s since January 2021.
Honestly, they run great, they are among the lightest AT tires so no impact on fuel economy.
Road noise is comparable to the stock Dunlops.
I haven't had the chance to really test them in any intense offoad situations but so far I am a happy customer.

My vote is to go with the OEM 10mm top hat spacers. $70 for the spacers, $100 to have them installed and an alignment, you're out $250 at most and it'll give it that level look and roughly 1/2" more room up front. I am running that setup with 275/70/18's and 1.25" Spidertrax wheel spacers on the stock wheels and I love the look. Eventually I'll go with a full on suspension lift and larger tires but for now the factory spacers more than keep me satisfied.
