6 liters of bastardness

More from Brewery Bhavana and Haw River - grabbed at Weaver St in Carrboro. Cart is the sweetest thing they have made - like a Decadent beer. Piglet was very complex for a table beer like a Grisette - almost like a Gose.

Also . . Heather and I had a date night this time last week - snuck out to Saxapahaw, had some great beer at Haw River including their newest version of Saxy Machismo, Quad ~13%!

We had to get away for a night - was fun if only 5-8:30 PM :)

I “liked” it but I’m not sure I’d like it...

Honest assessment. Delicious.
The aroma was a bit sweet and syrupy to the point of arousing suspicion but the the taste was not near as sweet as youd expect to the pallette. Definite bourbon and Chocolate notes but i didnt really pick up on the chipotle.

Dont tend to reach for the stouts as much anymore but they do go great with a snowy day adventure. Actually, thats all that was in the fridge this weekend.

Another good one from WiseMan brewery in winston that came along.......

My friends at 580 Craft Beers have launched their new brewery: Thirsty Skull

Thirsty Skull Brewing

They have a beer at Bottle Rev near RDU/RTP as well as two on tap here in town. They are doing good work really nice classic IPA with hints of West Coast and a delicious Blonde Stout - light in color, but dark in flavor.

Back in the spring, I went to Frühlingfest (Oktoberfest in the spring) in Stuttgart. The Schmuckers I brought home were fair/good. The better score was several days I spent driving through Belgium. I hit 4 of the 6 Trappist breweries, including the famous Westvleteren. In 2005, ratebeer.com begin doing the best beer in the world, and the first winner was the Westvleteren 12. It can only be drank at the brewery, and if your timing is right, you can take home a few bottles. While it isn't sold outside the brewery, the St Bernardus 12 is very close (they used to brew for them for about 40 years), and the St Bernardus is available in the US. Fortunately, there are a lot of good abbey-style beers brewed in the US.

Might be the best coconut bourbon stout I've had.

Had a few of these at the Chatham County Line Electric Holiday show at Lincoln the other night (missed ya'll @GarnerFJ40 and @jfz80 ). I thought they were damned good, but I'd had a few cocktails and a couple other beers. Going to try it again this weekend to confirm :)

Picture stolen from the interwebs since I didn't snap one at the show, laugh.

One style of beer that I've never thought we've quite mastered here in the US is a German. We have a few that are ok like icicle brewing here in WA but at the same time it costs as much as German beer so why not get the good stuff. Picked up this Japanese snow weizen and wow. They nailed it. Damn it's good and smooth.

Henniker makes, what I think is, the best NEIPA. Swung by recently to grab some, but I was 3 weeks early.
Grabbed some of this instead. Ton of flavor and will knock you on your tookus.

I got to go to 580 Craft Beer for about 20 mins today - -during this time a guy walked in with one of these he got as an Xmas present:

Shop

Seemed like a neat deal, but they look EXPENSIVE.

They are awesome for camping. Considering the prices of most "overland" gear it's a deal. Lol
